The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) is responsible for all electric, natural gas, water and wastewater collection services. Additionally, since 1997, a dark fiber optic loop has been available to business customers. UTILITIES ADVISORY COMMISSION (UAC): The UAC is a five-person citizen commission established by City Council in 1991 to provide in-depth review of utilities issues and give members of the community an opportunity to participate in open discussion on matters related to the electric, gas, and water utilities. The opinions and recommendations of the UAC are very important factors in CPAU s long-range planning and policy. The UAC meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
