Round 2: Industrial Production As the world gets smaller with the colonization of new worlds, growing populations, and new technologies that allow us to take more control of our environment, an industrial revolution is taking place. You and your family have taken residence in a city to take advantage of the growing job opportunities there to either work in a factory or own the factory. You will play your role according to your historical knowledge and comply with the confines of your station, whatever they may be. Roles: o 4 Groups of 4 o 1 Capitalist Mr. Holowicki is an extremely wealthy Captain of Industry and has vertically and horizontally integrated the textile industry, creating a monopoly. He owns the means of production as well as the competition. All of the profits from his textile factories go to him, then he decides how much to pay his workers. o 4 Middle Class Supervisors The Middle Class Supervisors oversee the day-to-day production in the textile factories. They see to it that a rigid timetable is followed, that production is efficient, and that the rules of the factory are followed. As supervisors, they may make up the rules the Wage Laborers must follow. Once a product is completed, the Supervisor will ship the product to Mr. Holowicki to be sold to the burgeoning consumer market. o 3 Wage Laborers The Wage Laborers produce the textile products. Each Wage Laborer will have a specific skill (drawing the product, coloring the product, or cutting the product) that they will perform in an assembly line to streamline the mass production of textiles.
