JOB DESCRIPTION GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Stoke on Trent & North Staffordshire Responsible To: Service Director and Registered Service Manager The Role: To provide development support to senior managers and staff in raising Creative Support s profile and positive reputation, building our business activity, setting up new services, enhancing the quality of existing services and arranging various client. To add value to our service delivery and the experience of our customers by building social capital and community links. We are looking for a proactive and assertive individual who has the ability to manage a diverse workload within a person centered organisation. Main Responsibilities/Duties 1. To gain an excellent knowledge of community resources in the region across all sectors. To undertake local area mapping of resources and to publicise and maintain up to date information in an accessible format. 2. To proactively forge links with a wide range of partners across statutory and voluntary services. To ensure regular attendance and active participation in and contribution to local partnership working opportunities. 3. To build a positive local and regional profile for Creative Support and our services through promoting our services, events and positive outcomes. 4. To develop joint initiatives with local partners which add value to the community and enable service users to make a meaningful contribution. To promote access to community activities and mainstream services. 5. To increase the role of volunteers and peer support within the region and to work closely with user led organizations, community groups and social enterprises which can provide opportunities for service user participation and personal development including volunteering opportunities. To develop good practice and protocols for volunteering and peer employment. To organise and participate in recruitment selection procedures including group and one to one interviews. To support service users to take part in the recruitment process. Development 12. To produce a range of high quality written information to support the development of local services which may include policies, business plans, marketing materials, newsletters, recruitment materials, communications to service users and families etc. 13. To assist the Executive Team and the Development/Tendering Team in any other duties as may be required which may involve direct input in developing and implementing plans for new services. 14. To support the continuous improvement and development of agency good practice through the circulation of all relevant publications/articles/policies and strategies and general information to relevant staff and service users. 15. To support managers and staff directly in preparing for internal and external audits and inspections. 16. To offer administrative support to local managers in a range of areas including stakeholder involvement, compliments and complaints, following up incidents and safeguarding issues, HR matters etc. General Duties 1. TERMS AND CONDITIONS GRAUDATE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Stoke on Trent & North Staffordshire Pay Structure: Up to 19,108pa dependent upon experience and qualifications: Point 1: 17,456 per annum Point 2: 18,092 per annum Point 3: 18,564 per annum Point 4: 19,108 per annum Bank Holidays An enhancement is paid for working at Christmas and New Year. We do not pay enhancements for working evenings, weekends or any other public holiday. Hours of Work: Full time hours 37.5 per week, to be worked flexibly as required including occasional weekends and evenings. Disclosure Checks: Employment will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks and SOVA checks. Probationary Period: The first six months will constitute a probationary period. When this is successfully completed, employment will be confirmed. Holidays: 25 days plus 8 statutory days pro rata Sickness Policy: Creative Support operates a discretionary company sick pay benefit scheme which is for the purposes of preventing hardship during times of serious illness. The eligibility criteria and conditions for payment of Company Sick Pay (inclusive of SSP) are shown in the Employee Handbook. You may be eligible for Company Sick Pay benefits subject to compliance with these criteria as follows:- Creative Support do not pay for the first three days of any sickness absence. First six months service - Not eligible for Company Sick Pay though you may be entitled to SSP. Six months to eighteen months service - Up to a maximum of four weeks at full pay. Eighteen months plus service - Up to a maximum of eight weeks at full pay followed by four weeks at half pay. Part time employees will receive Company Sick Pay benefits as detailed above but pro rata to actual hours worked each week. Company Sick Pay benefits may be withdrawn or temporarily suspended where performance or attendance is unsatisfactory. Page 6 of 7

Life Assurance: All staff are entitled to free life assurance. This is a valuable benefit which provides a lump sum equal to four times annual salary. The policy is provided by Norwich Union. Discretionary Benefits: Creative Support offers discretionary benefits in addition to statutory benefits. Employee Counselling Service: All staff, their partners and members of their household have access to an independent confidential, 24 hour telephone counselling service and to legal and financial advice. In addition, up to 6 sessions of face to face counselling can be obtained. This service is delivered by professionally qualified and supervised counsellors and is provided free of charge Hospital Saturday Fund: All employees have access to a special scheme which enables membership of the Hospital Saturday Fund on preferential rates. There are a choice of packages offering different levels of service. Membership is entirely voluntary. Staff Benefits Scheme: As a member of staff for Creative Support you will be entitled to access a range of on-line benefits for various activities and high street stores.
