Contractor Training Courses & Pre-requisites October 2017

Available courses and pre-requisites It is very important that all participants have completed the course pre-requisites before attending our training. Otherwise, we cannot accept them into their nominated training courses. Following is information on all course pre-requisites. Evidence of completion must be emailed to your Ergon Energy representative before attending nominated training. White Card all field based contractors All field-based contractors must complete the course Working safely in the construction industry (White Card). This training is available online through other training providers. Non-field based contractors do not need to complete this course unless we advise otherwise. Core Courses - all training participants All training participants must complete the following two core courses before their nominated elective course date: Course Code Core Course Description Duration Generic Contractor Worker Induction (GCWI) Administration and Overview Safety Awareness Environmental Awareness Cultural Heritage Awareness GCWI T0499 EASWNELP 4490 Completion timeframe for GCWI is 30 days from issue of log on. If course is not completed within this timeframe, renomination through your Ergon Energy representative will be required. No extensions will be given. Note: All contractors who undertake work on or in the vicinity of the Ergon Energy distribution network, need to complete the Electrical Awareness for Safe Working Near Exposed Live Parts course (see below) Electrical Awareness for Safe Working Near Exposed Live Parts (EASWNELP) Pre Requisite training for this course is GCWI Online 1.5hrs Classroom Based 6 8hrs page 1

Important information for Switching Authorisations All Switching Courses have both theory and practical components which must be completed and authorisation issued before progression to higher levels. When nominating for Switching Reassessments nominate to the highest level authorisation the participant currently holds. All lower level reassessments will be included as part of the nomination. When nominating to Switching Reassessments, you must provide evidence of completion of all pre-requisites, acknowledging that the applicant: 1. Has relevant practical experience in the 12 prior months to re-authorisation 2. Requires access to a High Voltage Enclosure Authorisation and/or continues to be performing a switching role 3. Is aware of the expectations and responsibilities of this role/authorisation. For more information on this, you can request a copy of the TT&D Switching & Access Authorisation Reference document from your Ergon Energy Representative. Ergon Energy has a 3 yearly reassessment and 12 monthly refresher period for all levels of authorisations. 12 monthly refreshers must be completed to maintain the authorisation or it will be suspended. For the first and second year, online theory refreshers are required. Face to face refresher sessions for Switching Operator Assistant and all levels above (theory & practical) will be required prior to the expiry date of the authorisation (i.e. third year). All refresher training for SEHVE and IOW will remain online. Switching & Access Reassessment nominations should be placed at least 3 months prior to expiry to ensure that delivery is met.
