It has come to the attention of the Taber Police Service; individuals have been attending various residences in our community requesting to test citizen s tap water. The results of our investigation show that each house tested was told Taber s water quality is poor. This is NOT true. According to EPCOR; Taber is fortunate to have a safe and reliable source of drinking water. EPCOR has a team of water professionals working behind the scenes so you can be confident every time you pour yourself a glass of water directly from the tap. Each year, trained staff members conduct over 7,000 water quality tests on 15 different factors to ensure the Taber water meets all provincial standards and federal guidelines. As a result, citizens do not need to further filter their water. As added assurance, our team also regularly collects water samples for testing from local homes and businesses. EPCOR employees have an EPCOR ID badge and do not promote the sale of water filtration or treatment devices. If there are any questions, citizens are welcome to give our office a call at 403 223 0618. Please be aware we have evicted said company, but we would ask if anyone has people coming door to door for similar reasons please contact Taber Police Service at (403) 223 8991. CBC Marketplace has highlighted this very problem in a program entitled: Clean water, Dirty tricks http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/2011/cleanwaterdirtytricks/ 2
As of November 16, 2011, the Town of Taber stopped adding fluoride to its drinking water. The fluoridation of drinking water is a decision made by the Council of each Canadian municipality, in collaboration with the appropriate provincial authority. Earlier this year, the Town conducted an informal survey of directly affected people and reviewed the financial costs of maintaining fluoridation of the drinking water. Based on both findings, the Town applied to Alberta Environment for approval to remove fluoridation from the water treatment process. It may interest you to know that fluoride is now found in most foods, drinks and toothpastes. North American toothpaste typically has about 1,000 parts per million of fluoride to help fight cavities. Health Canada recommends parents supervise children under three years old using fluoridated toothpaste to ensure they don t swallow it. Additional information on fluoride can also be obtained on the Health Canada website at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/iyh-vsv/environ/fluor_e.html Second Annual Pet Rescue Christmas Supply Drive Please Join Us Saturday, December 10, 2011 10 AM 3 PM at the Taber Community Centre Cat Wish List Dog Wish List Other - dry cat/kitten food - dry dog/puppy food - paper towel - wet cat food - wet dog food - bleach - cat litter - chews (rawhides, etc) - treats - toys - toys - treats Also: Christmas Pet Pictures Bake Sale Pets for Adoption 3
