New Volunteer Training Manual December 16, 2017 If your friends or family (or even yourself) are thinking of purchasing tickets as holiday gifts, please share/use the following promo code : ARSHTSTAFF It gives discounts on ticket purchases and/or fees.* Type in ARSHTSTAFF in the promo code box and click apply (very important otherwise the discount will not be applied). Once applied, it will display the discount for the current day. Enjoy! *discount will not always be the same. Different shows offer different discounts on different days so it will vary on a show and/or daily basis. Best way to know is type in the promo code and HIT APPLY to see what the discount is for the particular show on that particular day Peacock Education Center (KCH) between performances of the Nutcracker (4p 6p) Join your Arsht Center Family and Friends for an afternoon of Holiday Cheer Pot Luck Style and maybe even a little holiday shopping! Bring a dish to share, preferably homemade favorites like mac & cheese, veggies, crock pot something, salads etc., and of course your best dessert! Then after you eat, browse the tables of your fellow volunteers displaying their crafts for possible holiday gifts! All volunteers are welcome, even if you are not volunteering that day. Please bring your favorite dish anyway! To help avoid repeat dishes, we will put a sign up on the bulletin boards in the ZBOH clubhouse so you can see who is bringing what. Volunteer Services will provide drinks. See you there in your holiday fare! 3 WHY WE SERVE Arsht Center Vision Statement: The Adrienne Arsht Center embraces excellence, celebrates differences, renews the spirit and engages diverse communities through the power of the performing arts. A friendly reminder that when you volunteer for an assignment, please make sure you are able to complete all functions of the task, especially when ushering. The House Managers rely on ushers that are capable of ushering in any capacity on any given night whether it be tickets, or 4th tier. The more well rounded everyone is, but better it is for the entire team...we ALL benefit. If you have something that prevents you from fulfilling your usher duty for the evening, please let the House Managers know prior to the briefing so that they can assign you accordingly. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. UPGRADING TICKETS If you are interested in paying the difference to upgrade your tickets to a better seat, please contact group sales directly at Hours of Operation: Monday Friday 9a 4p Our Vision Statement is what drives the Arsht Center to fulfill it s purpose every time the door opens. With that being said, I would like to challenge the entire team, myself included to learn, remember, embrace and act upon the Arsht Center s Vision statement. Beginning in January, at any given time, if I see you in the hallway or maybe at a briefing, if I ask you what the vision of the Arsht Center is and you can recite it to me flawlessly, you will receive 5 bonus hours. The key is, I have to ask you though lololol.so always be ready! In the same spirit, if you see a fellow volunteer, tier-leader or even the House Manager do something that goes above and beyond, that embraces excellence as our vision statement says, let me know. We will start a new column in January called Volunteer Spotlight that will highlight the various ways that individuals on our team have gone above and beyond to display the excellence that is stated in our vision statement. In December, I will hand out vision statement cards to help you practice and to keep it top of mind. The goal is one day for everyone at a briefing to be able to recite it together so we can record it and share with our president that we, the volunteers, are committed to the vision of the center. (answers are below and upside down) ZBOH KCH Usher Training: Monday, 12/4/ p 8:30p In anticipation of a busy holiday season, we are looking to increase our troops! Our next usher training will take place on Monday 12/4/2017. If you are interested and have met the qualifications below, contact us at volunteers@arshtcenter.org to reserve your spot. 1. Volunteered for at least 5 show in any combination (CST or GA show in KCH or ZBOH) 2. Completed sensitivity training 3. Completed online safety training. New Volunteer Orientation: Monday, 1/29/2018 6p 9p Our next New Volunteer Orientation will take place on Monday 1/29/2018 in the CST. If you know anyone that may be interested, please be sure to pass along the information. So the advisory committee suggested we do a raffle (while supplies last)! In order to be included in the raffle, you only need to have worked a minimum of 4 shifts per month. 5 DISCOUNT AT THE CAFÉ AT BOOKS & BOOKS Our partners at Books & Books will be rolling out a NEW Double Discounts Program from now until December 29, Receive 30% OFF all menu items, Monday thru Friday from 11:00 AM to 4:00PM. To enjoy these discounts, simply be seated on the 13th street dining tables and present your Arsht Volunteer ID upon arrival. Please note: this promotion cannot be combined with any other offers. Enjoy! The Advisory Committee has provided another way to earn recognition. In addition to the hours pins, you will now also be recognized for how long you have served. In December, we will introduce the the pins and they will be given out for service in 5 year increments beginning with 5 years, 10 years etc. Moving forward, we will give them out each year at the Annual Appreciation Dinner. It is just another way that we would like to acknowledge and thank you for your service. THANKSGIVING FEASTS Is it your first year making the turkey, or your first year letting someone else do it? Please share pictures of your Thanksgiving feasts and family gatherings! 5 Adrienne Arsht Center will be an official drop off location for Toys for Tots again this year. This is our 6 th Year collecting toys & our 5 th year as an official drop off. Starting today thru Thursday, December 7 th, 2017 we will be collecting new, unwrapped toys that will be distributed to local children to bring happiness & smiles for the holidays. We have shorter collection time than ever before just 18 days. Let s see what all of our teamwork can do!
