Challenges of green builders from contractors perspective

GREEN BUILDING... Q. WHAT IS A GREEN BUILDING?

GREEN BUILDING focuses on increasing the efficiency of resource use energy, water, and materials while reducing building impact on human health and the environment during the building s lifecycle, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal. Green Buildings should be designed and operated to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on its surroundings. - extracted from www.greenbuildingindex.org

Green Builders WHO ARE THE GREEN BUILDERS?

SM5 QLASSIC Quality Assessment System For Building Construction Work ASSESS QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP USING QLASSIC Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) is a system or method to measure and evaluate the workmanship quality of a building construction work based on Construction Industry Standard (CIS 7:2006). QLASSIC enables the quality of workmanship between construction projects to be objectively compared through a scoring system.

Education & Culture (Overall) Education Local research has to be of quality (Collabration with technology partners) Ensure local workforce embrace continual learning Green Practices Green Culture need to be cultivated amongst all stakeholders Prospect Contractor need to be more far-sighted with clear path of progress

Is it beneficial for contractors to be green? Improve work efficiency by planning the work Reducing wastage of materials as work efficiency is improve Recycling and Reducing material save costs By improving on Quality, client will give us incentives With Quality assured; reputation got enhanced With better reputation, you get more job thus more money.

Conclusion Who are the green builders? A contractor who actively and conscentiously involve in green building through its operation and management.
