SCOPE OF WORK (see attachments A and B) There are three sections of fencing to address. SECTION A EXISTING FENCE o 6 chain link fence o Description 2,400 lf 8 foot steel posts (6 + exposed) @ ~10 on center (OC) (weight unknown) Both 1-7/8 and 2-3/8 outside diameter (OD) Gate posts heavier (up to 4 OD) 2 x 11 x 72 chain link mesh Tension wire both top and bottom Gates #1 Vehicle 12 single swing #2 Vehicle 16 double swing (2 leaf gate) #3 Pedestrian 4 single swing #4 Vehicle 21 double swing (2 leaf) UPGRADE o Add extension sleeves to existing fence posts; check posts for stability and replace any that are loose o Add chain link to existing fence to achieve 8 high fence o Add tension wire to top of extended fence o Increase height of or replace existing gates to achieve 8 height 1 of 4

Existing gate frame CAN be used as long as the parking lot side of the finished gate matches the fence. SECTION C EXISTING FENCE o 6 wood fence o Description 200 lf 9 OD pressure treated wood posts (6 + exposed) @ ~8 OC Three horizontal 2 x6 s Vertical 1 x6 x6 cedar boards Gates #6 Pedestrian 6 double swing (2 leaf) wood #7 Vehicle 16 double swing (2 leaf) wood o This gate is currently a chain link construction gate. UPGRADE o Add to wood post height as needed to support 8 high wood fence o Remove existing 1 x6 x6 vertical boards o Install new 1 x6 x8 vertical cedar boards o Remodel or re-build both gates to match wood fence. Resultant gate to be double leaf 16 wide gate wooden gate. SITE VISIT A mandatory site visit is scheduled for February 18, 2016 @ 9 AM. REFERENCES Northwest Trek Wildlife Park reserves the right to request references, after bid submittal, to assist in determining the overall responsibility of the Bidder. Northwest Trek Wildlife Park reserves the right to reject any bid submittal that upon receipt of the references, the Bidder receives unfavorable references. CONDITIONS Bids are subject to prevailing wage requirements (reference Chapter 39.12 RCW). Wages to be paid workers, laborers or mechanics, pursuant to this contract shall not be less than the prevailing rate of wage in the same trade or occupation where the labor is performed. By submission of a properly signed and completed bid, bidder agrees to comply with all provisions of the RCW. It is the contractor s responsibility to submit a "Statement of Intent to Pay Prevailing Wages" and "Affidavit of Wages Paid" along with any applicable fees, to the Department of Labor and Industries. Contractor will be required to sign a contract with Metro Parks Tacoma and identify Metro Parks Tacoma as additional insured. Expenses related to day-to-day performance under any Contract, including but not limited to, travel, lodging, meals, incidentals will not be reimbursed to the Bidder. Rate quoted by Bidder must include these costs. Contractor is responsible for verifying all measurements shown in this document. Half of the fence line is adjacent to roadways, walkways or parking lots so access will be fairly easy. The owner will accept only minimal fence line clearing and only where needed. The contractor is responsible for clearing any fence lines which must be altered. Clearing width is to be no more than 6 wide and must be approved by the owner before clearing. Access to the work site and work times MUST be coordinated with NW Trek staff. From January through mid-march, Northwest Trek is open for public operations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most work in Section A may be performed on any day of the week. Some parts of Section A may only be performed on Mondays through Thursdays. Work in Sections B and C may only be performed on Mondays through Thursdays. Work may be performed at any time the park maintenance staff is on-site this equates to seven days-a-week from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm. The contractor (crew) may work any day(s) of the week, however, the owner will not be responsible for any overtime payments to workers. This will be the responsibility of the contractor and be reflected in his bid. A normal work day is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Work may be started earlier and end later upon mutual agreement between the owner and the contractor. Absolutely NO INTERACTION with animals will be allowed no feeding, no touching, no taunting, etc. Failure to abide by this condition may void the contractual arrangements. NW Trek is a smoke-free facility; smoking is allowed ONLY in private vehicles. 3 of 4
BIDS Bids are to be submitted on the supplied bid sheet. Each fence section will be bid per lineal foot with an estimate of the lineal footage provided. The final cost will be based on the actual lineal footage of finished fence for each section. Each gate will be priced separately. This project will use an informal bid opening process. All bids received by the due date will be reviewed the next day and all bidders will be informed of the results at that time.
