Introduction v How to use this Manual In this manual you will learn all there is to know about the organization Eagle Angels at the University of North Texas. This manual should be used by young women between the ages of 18 and 25 who are looking to be a part of or whom are already a part of Eagle Angels. With this manual all the questions you may have about this organization will be answered. If the instructions are read correctly and completed, you will be fully educated on what this organization stands for. You will also learn what is tolerated and expected from members or Eagle Angels
CHAPTER 1: THE PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION
Chapter 1 3 Chapter 1 overview: In this chapter you will learn about the reason this organization was formed. You will learn about what Eagle Angels do. Purpose of Eagle Angels Eagle Angels is an organization that began in the year 2000 at the University of North Texas. It was created for the purpose of aiding the athletic department in recruitment of Student Athletes in the football program at the University of North Texas. Eagle Angels requires a lot of dedication and commitment. Eagle Angels are expected to Volunteer in the Athletic Center offices, give university tours, and assist in other functions to promote the Mean Green football team. As an Eagle Angel you will be expected to be familiar with the basics of the game
CHAPTER 2: MEMBERSHIP
Chapter 2 7 Chapter 2 overview: In this chapter you will learn about the requirements, dues and responsibilities that you must comply with in order to be a member of the organization, Eagle Angels Requirements i. You must be enrolled in at least 12 college credit hours during the active semester at UNT. a. Your class schedule will be required at the beginning of each semester to verify enrollment. Verification of enrollment can be found at the registrar desk in the Eagle Student Service Center. ii. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA at UNT of 2.5 a. Your unofficial transcript will be required at the beginning of each semester to verify your cumulative GPA. b.. If your GPA drops below a cumulative GPA of 2.5, you will be placed on academic probation got the following semester. The GPA must be brought above a 2.5 after the semester on probation or you will be immediately dismissed from the organization Dues Dues in the amount of $200.00 per school year must be paid. An installment plan is available. Each installment in the amount of $100.00 must be paid according to the date set by the officers. Responsibilities i. It is mandatory that you attend weekly meetings, go to all home games, participate in fundraising events, and community service projects ii. While you are in Eagle Angel attire, you must present yourself in a professional manner. While you are out of Eagle Angel attire, you are still a representative of the organization and the university and will be expected to act in a manner that reflects positively upon the organization. a. Please be aware of your behavior at parties, university functions, pictures you post on the internet b. If you are under the age of 21, you may not post or be tagged in ANY pictures where alcohol is visible. There are not exceptions. c. If pictures you post are unacceptable you will be notified. If the picture is not removed in a timely manner, the officer board may take further action. iii. iv. You many not change your Eagle Angel uniform in any way. You must show respect for fellow members, Athletic Center Personnel, recruits and their guest. a. Disrespect/insubordination will not be tolerated. If you are disrespectful, you will be asked to leave the event and will be given an absence.
8 Eagle Angels v. It is your responsibility to keep officers up to date on your personal address, e-mail, and telephone number. vi. It is your responsibility to keep up with your Eagle Angel hours. a. You must complete a minimum of 6 hours per semester. b. Opportunities for hours will be presented when events are created. c. You may earn a maximum of 3 hours from attending intramural games, playing in intramural games, and study hours. d. Extra hours may be added for members on probation at the discretion of the officers..
CHAPTER 3: ATTENDANCE
Chapter 3 11 Chapter 3 overview: In this chapter you will learn about the attendance rules and regulations of Eagle Angels. i. The Secretary will keep an attendance record at all meetings and other Eagle Angel events. ii. You will be presented with a folder and it is your responsibility to bring your folder to each weekly meeting. a. Forgetting your folder results in you being marked tardy. b. Three cases of being tardy equal one absence. iii. You are allowed only three absences per semester a. Absences will accumulate regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused. iv. If you sign up for an event and do not attend the event, you will receive an absence. v. On your fourth absence, you will have a meeting with the officers to determine if removal from the organizations seen necessary. vi. At the end of every month, you will be of your absences and your tardies up to that point. If there are any problems, please contact the secretary. vii. You must notify the secretary two weeks in advance if you know that you will not be able to attend an event. viii. If you are absent for a mandatory event, you must fill out an Absent Request Form administered by the Secretary.
CHAPTER 4: REMOVAL
Chapter 4 15. Chapter 4 overview: In this chapter you will learn about what leads to removal, and how the removal process works for Eagle Angels Any misbehavior inside or outside the organization that can affect the reputation of Eagle Angels is grounds for immediate removal for the organization The officers reserve the right to remove any member from the organization at any time. If the officers have found a need for removal, then a conference will be held with the officers. You will be notified in writing of the reason for dismissal. In extreme cases, removal will be on the spot. Upon removal, no refunds will be made. This includes dues, fundraising, and any other form of reimbursement.
CHAPTER 5: OFFICER ELECTIONS
Chapter 5 19 Chapter 5 overview: In this chapter you will learn about the different officer positions open, and how elections for these positions are held President a) The office of the President of Eagle Angels is decided by the current president, current members and with the assistance of the Athletic Department, respectively. b) Candidates will be nominated for President during a meeting, in front of current members. Members may nominate themselves. c) Presidential elections will be held separately from other officer elections. Officers d) If an officer meets all the criteria in terms of GPA, attendance, and fulfilling her organizational commitments, she may keep her current position. e) The officer positions are as follows: i) President ii) Vice President iii) Secretary iv) Treasurer v) Historian vi) Public Relations vii) Football Chair f) The liaison positions are as follows: i) Social Events ii) Fundraising iii) Community Service iv) Recreational Sports v) New Member Recruitment.
CHAPTER 6: RECRUITING
Chapter 6 Chapter 6 overview: In this chapter you will learn about the recruiting process concerning the incoming Mean Green football players. The rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA): i. Do not purchase or give anything to a recruit or his guest. ii. Do not offer personal transportation to any of the recruits or his guest iii. Do not take pictures or contact recruits outside of their visit to UNT. iv. Make sure that recruits are kept away from UNT alumni. The alumni are not allowed to interact with recruits on game days.
CHAPTER 7: BEHAVIOR RULES
Chapter 7 Chapter 7 overview: In this chapter you will learn the overall behavior rules that apply to everyone in Eagle Angels i. Gossip will not be tolerated. ii. Do not involve yourself with a recruit or any member of the athletic staff in a sexual manner. This is cause for immediate removal from the organization. iii. Do not knowingly give false information to a recruit and his guest. This is cause for immediate removal from the organization. iv. Do not be disrespectful to any recruit, their guest, a coach, a player, or a fellow member. This is cause for immediate removal from the organization. v. Do not place yourself in a position that would reflect negatively on the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: drinking an alcoholic beverage while wearing Eagle Angel attire, use of illegal substances, involving yourself in promiscuous or questionable behavior. Doing any of the above is cause for immediate removal from the organization..
