CLEAN ENERGY PROJECT VIABILITY RETScreen Training Date: January 16 & 17, 2013 Location: The Coast Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre Hosts: 1316-33 rd Street N.E. Calgary, Alberta CPTI-International, in partnership with WADE Canada The Canadian Energy Training Experts
CPTI-International, in partnership with WADE Canada, is offering the first of a series of Clean Energy Project Viability - RETScreen version 4 Training workshops to increase the implementation of efficient renewable energy systems in Alberta. This intermediate-level RETScreen training session will receive a Certificate of Completion from CPTI-International. An experienced RETScreen trainer will review the best practices for evaluating clean energy projects using RETScreen for anyone wishing to reduce costs and time associated the identifying and assessing potential clean energy projects. These costs, which arise at the prefeasibility, feasibility, development and engineering stages, can be substantial barriers to the deployment of Renewable-energy and Energy-efficient Technologies (RETs). Companies, small businesses, institutions and individuals will be able to evaluate energy production, life-cycle costs and greenhouse gas emissions reduction for a clean energy solution to their energy costs. Our training package includes two day of training, a clean energy installation tour and an evening networking and dinner session. The tour will be at the Springbank Corporate Centre which is being redesigned into an energy efficient office and warehouse complex by Geospectrum Energy. Milton Kiehlbauch will walk us through the geothermal/hybrid heating system, energy efficient walls, lights and windows, and a unique and innovative building management system. Dinner on Day 2 will feature our speakers, Anouk Kendall, President of WADE Canada and Tara Matheron, Business Development Manager at GE. Our Trainer Michael M. D. Ross is the RETScreen Trainer and Energy Project Analyst for the CPTI-International/WADE Canada partnership. He has worked with renewable energy systems and other clean energy technologies for over 17 years. Michael has held research positions with CanmetENERGY and the Advanced Energy Systems Group of the Department of Technical Physics and Mathematics at Alvar Aalto University, Finland s premier engineering university. Since 2001, in addition to consulting extensively for RETScreen International, Michael has provided his expertise for contracts in building energy modeling and energy efficiency, research on photovoltaic systems, wind energy resource assessment and site selection, assessment of icing losses and mitigation methods for wind turbines, quantification of greenhouse gas emissions associated with various energy technologies, and inspection of residential solar thermal systems. Since 2003, Michael has been the head of RER Energy Inc., which provides services for federal, provincial, and municipal governments as well as utilities, wind developers, engineering consulting firms and private homeowners. Michael has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Our Speakers Anouk Kendall is the President of WADE Canada. She has 23 years of experience in the energy and the environment fields. For the last 10 years she has been dedicated to developing and promoting the Decentralised Energy (DE) industry in Canada. She is one of North America s leading authorities in decentralized energy industry and energy innovation. Anouk has a unique combination of industry, government, academic and non-profit work experience. With WADE Canada, she has contributed to the development of a national network of over 5,000 DE practitioners and has hosted and co-hosted seven annual conferences plus several business development and dealmaker events. Her dedication to this non-profit industry association has fostered growth in the DE markets and increased technology innovation in the energy sector. She applies her skills and knowledge to industry cluster development, policy reform, project enablement and attracting industry investment. Her industry experience includes large, multi-year, international industry projects related to greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies and district energy projects in the Caspian Basin (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan) and Russia s Far East. She gained government work experience following the United Kingdom s Home Energy Conservation Act 1995 when she worked as the Senior Energy Officer at Leeds City Council designing and implementing residential energy conservation strategies and shaping and expanding the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Her academic experience in biomass combustion and the co-combustion of coal with biomass was funded by the Department of Fuel and Energy and the School of Geography at the University of Leeds where she was a postgraduate researcher. She is the author and co-author of several research papers pertaining to atmospheric emissions from biomass combustion and sustainable business practices. Anouk was born and currently resides in Calgary, Alberta. She holds a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Calgary. Tara joined GE in 2010 through the Commercial Leadership Program (CLP). During this time, she obtained experience in various roles including working as Sales Manager for Renewables in Western Canada and Technical Manager for Heavy Duty Gas and Steam Turbines in North America while based at GE headquarters in Schenectady, NY.
