About our Courses. Horizon S.H.E Training has taken years to research and develop their training modules and one day training programmes. With lengthy consultation and involvement of specialists in the field of training and health and safety we are proud to present our training package to you. We are confident that our courses will not only give the learner the necessary knowledge to confidently pursue or work in the field of Health and Safety but our course packages and breakdown ensures that the successful learner will be able to implement their skills and knowledge once completing the necessary life skills with us. Through our much emphasized workplace integration which forms part of the Notional hours and formative assessment we are able to ensure that the learning through the course is holistic and grounded which will enable the learner to comfortably progress from classroom to workplace. LEARNERSHIPS The Learnership is a full year programme which includes the placement of the Learner on a Site for a period of the training once each life skill is completed in the classroom. This means that through the year the learner will be engaging in the classroom and on a worksite should they not be gainfully employed. CAREER PATH TRAINING / LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMMES Our career path orientated Health and Safety Life Skills Programme is the inclusion of all 3 Life Skills where we are able to develop the learner in the field of Health and Safety. We encourage persons who attend this full programme to be employed in the field of Health and Safety or identified for a career move in an organization as our programme and assessments are based on Workplace integration. ONE-DAY WORKSHOPS Our one day workshops are aligned to the accredited packages but are not assessed. We believe in the value of assessments and although understand that some people would just prefer to acquire the necessary knowledge or top-up their current knowledge we do not endorse certificates of completion or competency in these one day information knowledge based workshops.

PUBLIC COURSES / STAND-ALONE ACCREDITED COURSES These can be requested on their own however we have a maximum of 10 persons. These accredited courses will have a formal summative assessment, will include a Portfolio of Evidence. Before we declare competency we believe in ensuring that our learners can confidently match their claim to be competent in each area of skills and knowledge.

CAREER PATH TRAINING

Background information on Career Path Training Career Path Training is whereby companies or individuals can enroll and attend training in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, with the intention to be formally assessed and achieve credits on the various unit standards assessed. Unit Standards are packaged in groups called Life Skills Programmes - These courses are conducted over a period of few weeks and includes not only classroom time, but the individual learner will be required to undergo practical work progression and implementation on an actual construction site / project. The career path training programme has been predetermined by the HWSETA and its various unit standards are packaged in a visible developmental pathway in line with industry and workplace norms. The learner will be assessed in various ways e.g. written assessments, group activities and practical assignments etc. The development of a Portfolio of Evidence and our unique workplace integration lends to a more holistic, comprehensive and sound confirmation that the individual learner or company will be confidently competent in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and more marketable and employer with each Life Skills Programme achieved The duration of each Career Path Training / Life skill is determined by the amount of modules in each section.. The amount of delegates required for a Life Skill programme to commence is a minimal of six (6). Should companies require Career path training, prices will be negotiated on amount of delegates attending the training, with the understanding that more than one life skills programme is been registered for. Some of the training material can be personalized to incorporate your company checklist and registers etc. for in-house training.

LIFESKILL PROGRAMME: Safety Advisor & Induction This life skills programme is for the person who is new to the field of Occupational Health and Safety, or someone that is not quite on the level of a Safety Representative. This course is presented over a period of three (3) weeks whereby the learner will not only be required to attend classroom time, but they will be required to complete various assignments in their current working environment. These assignments will form of their Learner Portfolio of Evidence. The following Modules are presented in the course: UNIT STANDARD: 259 639 Explaining Basic Health and Safety Principles in and around the workplace UNIT STANDARD: 9964 Applying Health and Safety to a workplace UNIT STANDARD: 120 331 Fires in the workplace UNIT STANDARD: 119 454 Oral and Signed Communication UNIT STANDARD: 14656 HIV and AIDS Awareness (Sexuality and Sexually Transmitted infection incl. LIFESKILL PROGRAMME: S.H.E. Coordinator This life skills program is for the employee who has experience in Health and Safety and would like to further their knowledge. This program is for employees in a more senior position for example a Safety Officer. Background information on One Day Workshops Workshop training is considered as informal training and the main aim is information sharing. These workshops, although aligned to SAQA Unit Standards, is not be assessed, however it is benchmarked against the unit standards to ensure that the correct information is transferred. Companies or individuals can use this type of training for Continuous Professional Development points as well as to further their knowledge and careers in various areas. A certificate of attendance will be given at the end of this choice of learning. Workshop training is considered to be done in one (1) working day. The training material can be personalized to incorporate your company logo for inhouse training. The amount of delegates required for a workshop to commence is a minimal of 10. Should companies require in-house training, prices will be negotiated on amount of delegates attending the workshop training. Individual learners are welcomed. They will be entered into workshops where there is availability. HORIZON S.H.E. TRAINING offers the following WORKSHOPS: Occupational Health and Safety Legislation Basic Health and Safety Risk Assessment Training HIV / AIDS Awareness Training Ergonomics and Manual Handling Fire Preparedness On completion of the workshop training each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance. The delegate will not be considered competent as these information sharing workshops are seen as top-up training and value-added training.

Background information on Public Courses Through our Public Courses companies or individuals can attend training in a specific field in terms of Occupational Health and Safety. These courses, are credit bearing and ensure that the skills and knowledge transferred and gained are easily integrated successfully into the workplace. The delegate will be assessed in various ways e.g. written assessments, group activities and practical assignments etc., after the completion of the public course. This choice of learning valuable and with the formal assessment the learner can confidently complete the training based on the knowledge and skills gained. The duration of the public course are determined by the course attended and its predetermined outcomes. The amount of learners required for a public course to commence is a minimal of 10. Should companies require in-house training, prices will be negotiated on amount of learners enrolled for the training. The training material can be personalized to incorporate your company checklist and registers etc. for in-house training. HORIZON S.H.E. TRAINING offers the following PUBLIC COURSES: First Responder Training Level 01 First Aid (2 ½ Days) On successful completion of the written and practical assessments of the course, the learner will be issued with a First Responder Level 01 First Aid Certificate of Competence, which will be valid for a period of 3 years. Safety Representative Training (2 ½ Day) * Emergency Procedure and Accident Investigation (1 ½ Day) * Continuous Risk Assessment (2 ½ Days) * * On successful completion of the written assessment of the course, the learner will be required to complete a practical assignments in the workplace which will form part of their Portfolio of Evidence. This should be completed within the stipulated 30 days of completing the Public Course. Only on successful completing all the requirements of the Public Course will the learner receive a Certificate of Competence.
