TermoRens Offshore Service AS a natural continuation of TermoRens AS, founded in 1994 by Thore Andreassen.
Your provider of all Bacteria & legionella solutions. Anodic oxidation Chlorine dioxide UV-system Copper/ Sliver Chemical cleansing
Many people struggle with bacterial levels that is too high, without really knowing what to do about it. There are many solutions, but few good enough to manage keeping the germs away at all times. People believe that UV-light solves the problem. It does not, as it does not have any effect on the rest of the system. Anodic Oxidation on the other hand uses the water's natural salinity to create hypochlorite with the help of electrolysis when the water passes the titanium anode in the plant. This also prevents any biofilm building up inside the walls of the pipes, and it is in this kind of biofilm that bacteria can develop freely. Anodix are available in several different sizes & a reasonable insurance against legionella.
Legionella and high levels of bacteria is a major problem TermoRens Offshore Service AS supplies all kinds of methods for the elimination of bacteria, but the Anodic Oxidation method has proved to be superior when it comes to Legionella. This method was introduced to the Norwegian market in 2008 and quickly became a success. Among those who immediately took this into use were property management providers, hospitals, schools, retirement homes, and sports facilities etc. that were all battling with high levels of bacteria. The results were immediate and today about 500 systems have been installed in Norway. HVAC consultants have begun to recommend this type of system for many reasons, such as; the bacteria elimination is ongoing 24h a day, you do not have to add chemicals or heavy metals, the installation is easy and inexpensive and it comes with low maintenance.
Hot water flushing. This is a method that is recommended by Public Health institute of Norway. You install a pipe to by-pass the mixing vale and supply hot water direct to the system. The method is very controversial since when tests where carries out over a long period it was discovered that hot water flushing did not remove all bacteria. The bacteria was cleared after flushing but was fast built-up again. This despite the fact that it had been flushed with hot enough water over correct period (5min). We believe the bacteria is protected by the bio film in the pipeline. The biofilm acts as an insulator and protects the bacteria & they starts to multiply as soon as the flushing is over. The biggest problem is usually that there is not enough hot water, it takes a long time and can be tough for pipes and welds.
Copper / Silver This is a method that emits copper and silver ions into the water and which in turn kills the bacteria and eventually dissolves the biofilm. Silver is one of the best known bacteria killing method. One can fore example buy plaster with silver coating for killing bacteria. The system is normally installed on the main water supply to the building & consists of electronic and a oxidation chamber. In the chamber the copper and silver anodes are placed. These are consumed and must be replaced regularly. This makes the plant relatively expensive to operate. Another problem is that its not really permitted to induce heavy metals such as copper and silver into the water, but we are talking about very small amounts, less than 1 milligram per liter, which also is the requirement of WHO. Before installing such a system needs approval from Public Health institute of Norway and municipality. Such facilities are well suited for large buildings. TermoRens Offshore Service AS delivers copper / Silver systems.
Chlorine Dioxide This is a method that adds chlorine dioxide continuously into the water. Its normally mounted to the main supply & distributes to the entire system. Chlorine dioxide removes bacteria and in the long term breaks down the biofilm in the plant. Chemicals are" Consumed " and there is limitations to how much can be added. It will take a long time before the entire facility gets the effect from this. Well suited for treatment of water for cooling towers, smaller plants etc. Small amounts are added continuously and the cost increases as well. The dosing unit also require regular service and this is built into the annual service agreement. We have several types of systems that can deliver from 5 to 200,000 g/h. Termorens Offshore Service AS Delivers chlorine dioxide and chemicals.
UV system Applying UV light for disinfection of drinking water has for many years been an effective alternative to chemical treatment. Developments of highly efficient UV lamps with low energy consumption and long life has opened up new possibilities for the UV technology. With a wavelength of 240 280N it attacks the vital genetic information contained in the microorganisms DNA directly and prevents them from multiplying. UV is not the optimal solution against Legionella since you don't get any effect out in the entire system. Together with anodic oxidation you get the optimal effect. TermoRens Offshore Service AS delivers UV systems for many purposes.
Anodic oxidation This method also utilizes anode. In this case a titanium anode. This anode don t emits any heavy metals into the water. The unit consists of an electronics unit and a oxidation chamber. Inside the chamber we apply low current to the anode and oxygen radicals are created. In basic; we split oxygen & hydrogen, and when water with bacteria passes the bacterial is effectively eliminated. The the unit is normally installed at the cold water supply to the heater system. The facilities return line is moved & installed before the oxidation chamber and you achieve 24 hour cleansing of the systems water. From the waters natural salt a small level hypochlorite is produced and over time this removes the biofilm. The unit can also be installed on new buildings with a water supply line up to 2 inches. This system has low operating costs & is therefore the most cost effective solution over time, compared to other methods. TermoRens Offshore Service AS delivers Anodix systems for the anodic oxidation.
Filters before main supply line and Ozone These are methods that don t have sufficient documented results against legionella prevention. Ozone however, has many good properties and is often used for treatment of drinking water before it enters the main water supply system. Treatment of swimming pools, disinfection of cooling water, protection against fish diseases in hatcheries and land-based fish farms and more.
Conclusion Mapping and sampling must be in order as documentation of the plant condition. Choose a system that suites your facility. None of the systems removes legionella over night and no one can give guarantee that some bacteria do not passes through. To be absolutely sure, you do chemical cleaning & remove all bacteria before any system is installed. Remember that no technical devices is self contain & a service agreement is needed. Contact us for a good deal! Legionella? NO THANKS!!
TROS AS supplies all systems for bacteria treatment, but when it comes to removing legionella the anodic oxidation method has proved to be the best. This method was launched into the Norwegian market in 2008 & quickly became a success. Among those who installed Anodix immediately was; real estate companies, hospitals, schools, retirement homes, sports facilities, etc. whom was struggling with high levels of bacteria. This resulted in a rapid expansion & today we have about 500 systems installed. Today ANODIX is used offshore as well with very good results.
Anodix anode is made of Titanium in pipe/pipe or plate/plate Anodix installation Principle of an Anode
Anodix is today the most optimal product on the market to prevent legionella outbreak in drinking water systems. By obtaining an Anodix you don't only purchase a product but an entire security system that meets all requirements of Public Health to document that your facility is free from legionella. Mapping, risk analysis, preparation of maintenance procedures and monitoring are included. We are confident that our concept is the most secure and affordable in the market.
Result from TNO The test from TNO institute in Holland is quite clear: Anodix kills bacteria and Legionella. Temperature can be reduced to below 60 degrees C.
