Upon receipt of the shipment, the product should be transferred to a freezer maintained at -40 C (-40 F). Protective gloves should be worn to handle the product as dry ice temperatures can result in burns to exposed skin. Also, contact of the frozen syringe with a warm surface such as a finger can result in rapid thawing at the contact point at the surface of the syringe which can cause an air void between the syringe and frozen adhesive. It is desirable to allow the product to equilibrate to -40 C prior to thawing. Thawing should take place by exposing to room temperature air while standing in a vertical orientation. Once the syringe has thawed, any condensed moisture should be removed with a dry cloth. The adhesive must be thawed prior to dispensing from the syringe. Time to thaw will depend on syringe size. Syringe size Thaw time guideline 5 ml 10 minutes 10 ml 15 minutes 30 ml 20 minutes 55 ml 25 minutes Dispense adhesive from syringe, fixture parts, cure with heat. Curing above Tg will ensure complete curing. Higher temperatures accelerate curing. - 4 -
Directions For Use (continued) Suggested curing conditions: Temperature Time 80 C 4 hrs. 120 C 2 hrs. Since curing depends on many factors, the user should determine the appropriate curing conditions necessary to obtain the physical properties required for each application. Storage and Shelf Life Storage: Store 3M in original container in freezer at -40 F (-40 C). Shelf Life: has a shelf life of 6 months after shipment when stored at -40 F (-40 C).
