National vision National Statistical System of Bangladesh is to become a world-class provider of authentic, relevant and timely data in a holistic and user-friendly manner. Bangladesh Constitution Protection and improvement of environment and biodiversity Article 18A. The State shall endeavour to protect and improve the environment and to preserve and safeguard the natural resources, biodiversity, wetlands, forests and wildlife for the present and future citizens.

To eradicate extreme poverty and achieve national food security. To address environmental health To establish the quality of life for the rural people of all regions. To preserve agricultural land and to ensure production growth for food security with minimum environmental degradation. To meet national air and water quality standards. To achieve tree cover over 20% of the land surface (with tree density > 70%) and ecologically healthy native forests are restored and protected in all public forest lands (about 16% of land) To meet energy demands of development through a low carbon strategy. To reduce potential economic losses due to Climate Change (particularly from floods, drought and salinity).

Institutions Institutional mechanisms in place to make sustainability and green economy decisions: Government has formed a Inter Ministerial Technical Working Committee (National) for collecting, compiling, analyzing and disseminating for Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Related Statistics. According to Statistical Act 2013, BBS is stand alone agencies for collecting, compiling, analyzing and disseminating Population, Demographic, Economic, Price, Poverty, Environment and other related statistics.
Institutions The role of the National Statistical office: BBS works in close collaboration with concerned about 57 stakeholders Ministries/ Divisions/ Organizations including DOE, BFD and DDM who are active in environment, climate change, disaster-related statistics; Developing MOU between BBS with ministries/ divisions/ agencies / DPs on data sharing, reporting and integration; Using electronic data system (digital platform) to build automatic data connection for data collecting, analyzing, processing and disseminating environmental statistics; and Improving survey methods, analysis and forecasting system
