CAFÉ Evaluation Methodology Facebook Tableau YouTube
CAFÉ Results and the Five Capitals CAPITALS Social Adaptive CAPACITIES Transformative 80% of farmers purchased crop insurance 98% of farmers expressed satisfaction with the services provided by their organization Human 100% of farmers know at least one way to mitigate climate change effects on their coffee crops Physical 90% of farmers purchased seedlings from their farmer organization at least once Natural 100% of farmers use at least one agroforestry practice on their plantations Economic 100% of farmers grow at least one of the climate-adapted crop varieties 100% of leaders show at least two of the leadership skills they were trained in 100% of farmers report feeling prepared to manage the effects of weather-related shocks 58% of members acquire inputs from their farmer organization

CAFÉ Evaluation Results NATURAL CAPITAL RESILIENCE ACHIEVEMENTS Strengthened farmers techniques and practices Developed farmers knowledge of climate change and resilience RESILIENCE UNCERTAINTIES Differing level of CKW knowledge Challenges in VEA/CKWs management and incentives Limitations in data analysis and ICT platform Limited implementation of farmer schools and demonstration plots
CAFÉ Evaluation Results ECONOMIC CAPITAL RESILIENCE ACHIEVEMENTS 23% of farmers increased coffee yield per tree from 1 to 4 kilos Supported alternative value chains RESILIENCE UNCERTAINTIES Project targeted 80% of farmers to increase coffee yield per tree from 1 to 4 kilos
LESSONS ON RESILIENCE FRAMEWORK APPLY RESILIENCE FRAMEWORK TO INFORM THE PROJECT DESIGN - Need For A Clear Resilience Theory Of Change USE ATTRIBUTES TO HELP DETERMINE IDEAL INTERVENTIONS PARTICIPATORY EVALUATION IMPROVES RESILIENCE LEARNING/EDUCATION FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS Because Resilience Capacities Can Be Highly Contextual And They Aren t Static Different Methods Useful For Different Stakeholders VALUE IN USING THE FRAMEWORK FOR BETTER TARGETING
PROGRAMMTIC LESSONS Cross-country engagement must generate outcomes Work toward sustainability of VEAs/CKWs Expand, improve the toolbox supplied to VEAs/CKWs PROGRAMMTIC DATA/Information sharing is critical (From project staff to CKWs and back)
