Australian Import Permits It is the customer s responsibility to arrange the correct import permit. An import permit is a document issued by a national government authorising the importation of certain goods across its borders. Within Australia, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources regulates products imported into the country. By law, the importation of certain products is subject to certain biosecurity import conditions, which may include a requirement for an import permit. In order for a customer to import Flow Cells and kits from Oxford Nanopore Technologies into Australia, they will be required to apply for and receive a permit for the importation of Diagnostic kits from the Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) website. Oxford Nanopore Technologies have recently performed a review of the shipping and customs documentation required to import products into Australia, under advice from local consultants and the Australian Customs Department. To avoid delays to customs inspections, we recommend that all customers add the import condition Diagnostic Kit to their import permit prior to placing an order. Please refer to page 2 of this document the How to Apply for the BICON Import Permit guide. The form provides detailed information on where the permit can be retrieved from and the information that will need to be entered to ensure that the correct permit is applied for. Upon receiving the permit to import quarantine material, please attach the document in an email to support@nanoporetech.com. If the customer services team have not received a permit prior to the scheduled dispatch of an order, a member of the team will be in touch to request the document. Please respond to this email, attaching the import permit. Please note that recent changes to the Australian Biosecurity Import Legislation mean permits must be updated prior to shipment. The appropriate import permit only needs to be provided once, unless there has been an update to the permit; in which case the updated document will be required for future shipments. We will also request that customers provide broker information. This is to complete the delivery once the goods have cleared the clearance process. If you do not have a broker, our agent in Australia, Go Air Land Sea, will be in touch to arrange the delivery of your shipment. For further information on brokers and our courier service please see page 7. It is the customer s responsibility to have the correct import permit. If Oxford Nanopore Technologies are told to ship without the permit reference in place we will ship via Fedex with no permit details attached. This may lead to a customs delays and further action from Australian customs. Any delays in the importation process that are a result of incorrect importation documentation as outlined in this document could affect any warranty claim decisions made by Oxford Nanopore Technologies.
