Is Morocco and the desert the right place for PV modules? Before cleaning, 48 h after the installation of modules After cleaning
IRESEN Research activities PV example Supporting the technology roadmap for Morocco I to identify adapted technologies to the Moroccan climate conditions to support a development of a Moroccan solar energy industry to become a hub in the field of renewable energy in Morocco, in the MENA region and Africa. II III to develop adapted solar technologies to the Moroccan climate conditions to secure the Moroccan market IV Grid integration of PV
R&D and test platform for solar energy Green Energy Park The PV outdoor test platforms are designed, combining a multitude of test set ups, in order to investigate and characterize PV modules in harsh weather conditions and to get valuable data about their performances in situ. The results that will be obtained in this platform will help: to implement a new adapted certification process for the outdoor measurement and characterization, to assess PV technologies and to develop new adapted technologies.
PV Test set ups Test Set Up 1: Solar Tracking System changing of module orientation angles, for a faster module characterization (to get a multifarious data set) Test Set Up 2: Module and Components Outdoor Exposure special material ageing tests on modules and specimen to provide an essential basis for the reliability and service life analyses of photovoltaic modules in the region Test Set Up 6: Module Performance Comparison of Different Technologies to be able to better assess the yield behavior of different module technologies in steppe like and desert regions Test Set Up 7: PV System comparison of different inverters (exchange of inverters) for consistent module technology or comparison of different module technologies for consistent inverters Test Set Up 3: Module Performance Measurements detailed data collection on yield and behavior of photovoltaic modules under real ambient conditions Test Set Up 4: Meteorological Sensor System the climatic and location specific conditions are to be investigated in relation to the yield behavior Test Set Up 5: Outdoor PID Evaluation an electric potential between the cells and the module frame results in an electric field that leads to a charge accumulation at the emitter and can short circuit cells. different types of modules are to be tested for this type of degradation
Module testing sequence and measured parameters For the outdoor performance measurements a full IV Curve is continuously, at least once per minute, and synchronized, for all test samples, recorded. The following parameters are determined of the IV Curve: ISC, VOC,IMPP,PMPP, FF. Beside the electrical parameters, also the module temperature module is measured (back of the module). Between the measurements every single module is tracked in Maximum Power Point (MPP). Scheme module testing sequence for outdoor by considering several aspects of the IEC 61215 / 61646 and IEC 61853 To investigate the module performance behavior in relation to the climatic and location specific conditions, several meteorological paramters are measured.
Development of desert modules Material and components ageing tests
Assessment of Solar Photovoltaic Technologies Using Multiple Perspectives and Decision Modeling STEEP Social: impact on society, Technical: technical performance, Economic: cost of technology diffusion, market adoption and life cycle costs, Environmental: impact of the environment and ecosystem, Political: political motivation, policies and regulations, market special interest, compliance and security.
Objectives to support a development of a Moroccan solar energy industry and especially PV, to become a hub in the field of renewable energy in Morocco, in the MENA region and Africa.
