Welcome the training division of the British Association of Removers (BAR), is the leading provider of training and learning solutions for the removals industry and removals related businesses. In January 2017 BAR Services launched 12 BAR Approved Centres (ATC s) which are located throughout Great Britain (see map on page 19). Driver CPC Periodic Removals Driver: Preparation, Loading and Delivering Moves (14hrs) Course Overview Ideally suited to drivers who are new or who wish to refresh their preparation, loading and delivering knowledge/skills. This broad-based course contains both theoretical and practical sessions whereby the drivers will gain a variety of move preparation, loading and delivering skills. These include knowing the standard to which items should be prepared prior to loading; learning about prohibited/restricted items; gaining a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practice of loading typical domestic and overseas moves. The course also covers the driver s key responsibilities in providing great customer service plus reviewing the driving skills needed to safely travel to the customers premises. Driver CPC Periodic Removals Driver: Manual Handling and Furniture Handling (7hrs) Course Overview This course provides those involved in the moving of furniture with essential manual and furniture handling skills. Those attending the course will learn how to correctly move a variety of items including furniture whilst ensuring the risk of injury and damage is minimised at all times. This course is equally suitable for drivers and removals operatives. Driver CPC Periodic Removals Driver: Customer Service and Company Image (7hrs) Course Overview This course has been written with a specific focus on the customer service standards that professional Removals Drivers should provide. By attending this course drivers will gain a high-level awareness of how behaviour can affect the customer service and company image. Knowing your customers, understanding removals customers needs and expectations Driving to the Customer s Address, planning and arriving on time, enhancing the image of the company Meeting and Greeting Customers, how to meet and greet the customer, dress code/ uniform and general appearance Collecting/Delivering Goods at Customers Premises, things to avoid saying and doing whilst at work or at customers premises Handling Customer Queries and Complaints, the cost of complaints/disputes to a business, the standard of service expected The BAR Code of Practice Who should attend? Driver CPC Periodic Removals Driver: Health & Safety in the Workplace (7hrs) Course Overview The course has been designed to give drivers who carry out domestic and commercial moves a comprehensive overview of their health and safety responsibilities. In addition, drivers will become more aware the risks they are typically exposed to and have a greater understanding the actions they can take to minimise accidents in the workplace. Driver CPC Periodic Removals Driver: Drivers Hours, Tachographs & Vehicle Checks (7hrs) Course Overview This course provides drivers with a comprehensive overview of EU and Domestic Drivers hours, working time and tachograph record keeping, pre-use vehicle checks and considerations to be made for vulnerable road users. Course Overview Name the enforcement agencies that enforce Transport Law Describe at least 4 reasons why an enforcement officer would issue a prohibition notice. Describe key precautions to be taken to minimise the risk of incident with the different types of vulnerable road user. List the top 3 HGV driving offences as listed in a 2015/16 government report. Provide a comprehensive overview of the main requirements of the EU Drivers Hours rules. Explain the main requirements of the Great Britain Domestic Rules Describe the main requirements of the working time requirements under EU and GB Domestic rules. Explain the differences between analogue and digital tachographs Give an overview of the main aspects the EU Tachograph Rules. Fragile & Non-Fragile Packing Course Overview This course is aimed at those who want to gain essential general packing skills. Delegates will learn how to correctly pack a variety of fragile and non-fragile items using professional packing materials in an effective and economical way. Export Packing Course Overview This two-day course contains both theoretical and practical sessions whereby the delegates will gain a variety of export packing skills that include: the correct use of wrapping/packing materials, wrapping/packing to the required export standards, prohibited items and country restrictions, and the principles of container loading for export. Manual Handling & Furniture Handling Course Overview The course comprises of a number of elements that includes manual handling and furniture theory, learning how to protect a customer s premises, and includes practical manual and furniture handling activities. Specialist Packing (and Transporting Pianos) Course Description This two-day course will provide delegates with a thorough grounding in specialist packing including how to correctly pack a variety of specialist items and effects, along with how to correctly and safely move upright and grand pianos. Working Safely in the Removals & Storage Industry Course Description This removals focused Health & Safety course includes a number of essential subjects that employees should be aware of to maintain safety at work. Removals Vehicle Loading Course Description This course is aimed at those who have responsibility for the loading of a removals vehicle with emphasis on safety, legislation and practical loading skills. It covers the documentation required, relevant regulations and the general processes involved in an overseas move. Introduction to Practical Estimating Course Description Delegates will learn the art of cubing volumes of furniture and effects and the importance of the Estimator s role. Practical Estimating Course Description This two-day course provides the Estimator with the essential skills to enable them to carry out an accurate and efficient estimate as well as gain essential communication skills when dealing with the customer.
