3. PURPOSE OF POSITION To attract, retain and promote the growth and development of coaches across the ARU. To lead and develop coach education and development activities throughout Auckland Rugby from school and club to high performance coaching with strict adherence to the ARU values of Belief, Leadership, Unity, Excellence and Playing to Win. 4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES # KEY RESULT AREA KEY ACTIVITIES 1. Coach Provide coaching resources to attract support and develop coaches. Establish annual plan for the delivery of coach development programmes across the region for community, club and school rugby. Coordinate and facilitate a range of coaching programmes and assessments in accordance with the plan. Programme may include but not limited to the following courses and workshops: o NZR courses o Coach assessments and accreditations o ARU / NZR club, women s and school coaches courses o Secondary schools basic fundamentals o Small Blacks accreditation o Rugby Smart accreditation o Front row and tackle box sessions Monitor, evaluate and measure the success of the programmes. Work with Rugby Participation team to promote participation and engagement in rugby coaching programmes. Identify and nurture talented coaches, establish opportunities for growth and succession. 2

Administration, Financial & Resources Management Collaborate with Head of High Performance to create the strategy and processes to enable High Performance Coaches to deliver on the ARU s strategic pillar Win in High Performance. Manage the ongoing development and training of the ARU s high performance coaches. Identify and develop the regions talented and elite coaches. Develop and implement succession planning programme. In conjunction with the ARU High Performance team coordinate the selection, appointment and assessment and season review of ARU rep coaches. Develop and implement an annual plan of High Performance Coaching Programmes to include: o Premier club & Secondary schools 1 st XV o ARU representative coaches o NZR Level 3 Advanced coaching Coordinate the assessment of coaches and requirements for Level 3 accreditation. Provide ongoing support and performance feedback to coaches. Work with ARU International Academy Resource Manager to ensure HP coaching programme delivers the academy s needs. Establish and maintain ARU coaches database, including records of programmes completed and progress. Manage registration process to coaching programmes. Coordinate promotional materials and on-line marketing of coaching programmes. Coordinate and ensure coaches resources are available. Maintain and control the coaching budget ensuring financially prudent delivery. Ensure all ARU rep coaches are aware of and live the ARU BLUE Values Belief, Leadership, Unity, Excellence - Playing to Win. 3
5. Player Selection Contribute to ARU s talent identification, rankings and rep team selection protocols to ensure the very best players are selected into ARU flagship rep teams. Implement via and annual TID system, rugby nomination and viewing programme. 6. People Leadership Provide management, direction and support to the Junior Coach Manager to ensure KPI s and objectives and met. Coach, motivate and inspire team and coaches to optimise performance. 7. Strategic Alignment Collaborate and contribute to the ARU s organizational blueprint Playing to Win strategy, behaviors and initiatives therefore ensuring achievement of the balanced scorecard. Actively engage in other duties, projects and opportunities assigned within the role. 5.
