1 Watford FC s Community Sports & Education Trust Job Description Job Title Premier League Kicks Project Officer Date Prepared 03/08/17 (PLKPO) Job Holder Grade Staff Reports to Community Development Manager Salary 18-24k (CDM - Harrow) Direct reports Sessional Coaches and Volunteers Location Cedars Y&CC - Harrow Job Purpose The Premier League Kicks Project Officer will be responsible for leading on the management, coordination and delivery of the Trust s Premier League Kicks programme. The PLKPO will work closely with the Community Development Manager (Harrow), as well as a range of partners to further develop our offer, as well as monitor and evaluate the impact and outcomes achieved. The role involves managing sessional staff and volunteers to ensure that the services offered are of the highest quality and provide opportunities which inspire, motivate and empower young people to realise their potential. The PLKPO is expected to do some coaching delivery as required, however the focus will be on sustaining, monitoring and developing the PL Kicks programme and other inclusion based initiatives. The role will also include working on matchday activities and seasonal events run by the Trust, as and when required. In addition there is an expectation on the PLKPO to contribute to the further development of the Trust s work, whilst ensuring the quality and professionalism which is synonymous with the Trust. Key Result Areas Principle Accountabilities Operational Deliver the PL Kicks programme to the highest possible standard, ensuring that participants receive an excellent experience. Deliver PL Kicks activities and other related initiatives (e.g. workshops, competitions, player visits, etc.) in line with the delivery plan and seek to achieve the agreed outcomes. Build strong and positive relationships with a range of partners (e.g. Harrow Councils YOT & Reparation teams) and key stakeholders. Promote an inclusive approach to PL Kicks and related initiatives. Quality assure the provision/services delivered. To undertake appropriate administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of projects (e.g. collating accurate attendance registers, consent forms, codes of conduct, etc). Seek to gain examples of best practice in social inclusion work from other organisations locally, regionally and nationally. Develop new inclusion projects with funders/partners in areas of need. Support the Disability Football Development Manager in the development of football/sports opportunities for disabled people in Harrow.
2 Lead on youth work provision based at Cedars Youth & Community Centre in Harrow. Support with the alternative education provision offered by the Trust. Liaise with the Girls & Women s Football Development Officer to ensure PL Kicks has a diverse and engaging offer for females. Safeguarding Ensure that when planning activities and programmes that the safeguarding of participants is at the heart of the process and that safeguarding policies and procedures are being adhered to at all times. Ensure that any coaching staff working on the PL Kicks programmes or similar initiatives are taken through the necessary DBS check and that they are suitably qualified to deliver the coaching whilst also holding valid Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates. Health & Safety Ensure that all health and safety procedures are in place for activities/programmes and that risk assessments have been completed. Data Protection Ensure that you are adhering to the policies and guidelines at all times and that programme data is stored in a secure location. Marketing & Promotion Work with relevant Trust staff, and external agencies to produce high quality resources, which meet relevant partners brand guidelines. Positively promote relevant social inclusion activities and programmes through a variety of channels. Monitoring & Evaluation Ensure that all activities are recorded via the Trust s online monitoring systems (Views), or other similar systems (as deemed appropriate) to help measure the success of projects. To include inputting data from registers, recording evidence of volunteering hours undertaken and qualifications achieved by participants. Work closely with the Community Development Manager (Harrow) and the Impact & Communications Officer to capture the social impact/value of programmes/events using outcomes based evidence and a variety of methods such as reports, case studies, testimonies, media articles, feedback surveys, etc. Update and manage relevant Trust databases/central records (sessional coaches and participants) in line with data protection guidelines. Provide reports, statistics and case studies for the Community Development Manager (Harrow) and senior Trust staff, as and when required. Ensure sessional staff collate participants and partners feedback through the evaluation forms in order to help shape and support ongoing service improvement.
3 Finance Ensure programmes planned are financially sound and sustainable and achieve budget targets for income and expenditure. Work with senior staff to secure new funding for social inclusion projects. Personnel Liaise with relevant Trust staff regarding the recruitment of sessional coaching staff, ensuring that you are adhering to the Club/Trust s recruitment procedures at all times. This includes collating all HR documentation such as reviewing job applications, qualifications, references and ensuring DBS checks are in place. Monitor and manage the performance of sessional staff/volunteers and provide them with training opportunities, advice and ongoing support. Work with the Trust s Volunteering Officer to develop volunteering initiatives which support project delivery and sustainability. General Undertake professional development opportunities as deemed appropriate. To adhere to the Trust s policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the Trust. To work in partnership with all the club s departments on community initiatives as identified by the Community Director and Board of Trustees. To actively promote the Trust in a positive and professional manner at all times. To actively demonstrate and promote the Trust s core values through your work. To undertake any other duties which might reasonably be deemed within the status of the job and appropriate to the post. Organisation Chart Available as a separate attachment if requested from candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Essential A proven track record of working on football/sports based youth diversionary projects, including experience of working with hard to engage young people in a range of settings. Experience of developing positive relationships with a range of partners and agencies on social inclusion or youth work based projects.
4 Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. Experience of managing or supervising staff/volunteers. Proficient IT skills. Experience of project management and working with budgets. Experience of report writing. A full and valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use. A passion to make a difference through sport and education. Undertake a satisfactory DBS check with the Trust. Desirable A degree or a recognised qualification in sport development or youth work. A D1 Mini-Bus Drivers Licence. Securing funding to run projects for young people. Other National Governing Body sports coaching qualifications. Experience of using IT systems to monitor and evaluate the delivery of projects and events. Personal Skills A passion to run projects which provide positive opportunities and in turn create safer and stronger communities. Ability to develop positive relationships with key stakeholders and young people participating in the projects. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills both verbal and written.
