Equipment Required Jiffy Mixing Blade Variable mixing speed drill Squeegees, brooms, paint brushes, trowels, rollers, etc. Hopper spray unit and compressor (optional for spraying Resistite) One gallon measure Paint Rollers Vacuum cleaner or soft floor broom Surface Preparation A. Concrete: Concrete decks should be cured for a minimum of 28 days. Concrete should be finished by power or hand trowel followed by a light broom or sidewalk finish. Steel decking over which concrete is poured should be perforated or vented to allow moisture to escape. Concrete should be visibly dry and pass a 4 hour rubber mat test (no condensation) prior to application of the coating system. A moisture meter or Calcium Chloride Moisture test kit (See Crossfield) can also be used to gauge moisture content. Moisture content should not exceed 7%. Concrete must be clean, dry and free of ridges, sharp projections or other defects. Concrete must be water cured only and structurally sound (3000 PSI compressive strength minimum). Any grease, oil, curing compound, surface hardener, foreign matter or laitance must be removed by acid washing (15% solution,) shot blasting or sand blasting. Areas which do not foam during acid etching indicate curing compounds or sealers which have not been removed and must be retreated. B. Pitch for Drainage: A pitch to drain off 1/4 (6.35mm) per foot is recommended if practical. A minimum pitch for drainage of 1/8 (3.10mm) is satisfactory, although minor puddling after rainfall may result. NOTE: Surfaces which require slope can be pitched with a Crossfield Underlayment prior to the installation of the Auto-Dex V. Drain, Flashing, and Expansion Joint A. Drains should be set level with the concrete so that the Resistite installation can be worked onto the flange or into the drain to provide complete seal. The drain flange should be flush with the level of the sub-surface. The drain must be of an approved design (i.e. Smith 1250 Series). Generally, plastic drains are not recommended for this use. B. Proper flashing methods for Dex-O-Tex Auto- Dex V vary according to the substrate and wall Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 1 of 5 Auto-Dex V

construction. For flashing onto stucco walls, please refer to Crossfield Detail Drawing X-19. For wood siding, brick or concrete tilt-up, please refer to Crossfield Detail Drawing X-6. C. Expansion Joints - Dex-O-Tex Auto-Dex V should be terminated at through-slab expansion joints. Expansion joints should be water-proofed according to the waterproofing specifications. Job Site Survey A. Perform moisture testing in accordance with one of the following methods: ASTM F1869 Standard Test Method for Measuring Moisture Vapor Emission Rate of Concrete Subfloor Using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride. Verify and document the results in accordance with the specification. If MVER exceeds 3 lbs./24 hrs./1000 sq. ft. and is under 10 lbs./24 hrs./1000 sq. ft., apply Dex- O-Tex VaporControl Primer 200 as per Application Specification S-970. If MVER exceeds 10 lbs./24 hrs./1000 sq. ft. and under 15 22* lbs./24 hrs./1000 sq. ft., apply VaporControl Primer 100 as per application specification S-972. ASTM F2170 Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slabs Using in situ Probes. Verify and document the results in accordance with the specification. If the insitu relative humidity (rh) of the substrate is greater than 75% and less than 84%, apply Dex-O-Tex VaporControl Primer 200 as per Application Specification S-970. If the insitu relative humidity (rh) is greater than 84%, and less than 89 99%*, apply VaporControl Primer 100 as per Application Specification S-972. *Apply VaporControl Primer 100 at the specified thickness required as per Application Specification S-972 for the level of MVER or insitu relative humidity percentage of the substrate. B. Inspect Substrate to verify proper preparation before applying any materials. C. Measure and record ambient temperature and humidity, surface temperature and the temperature of the material being used. Do not proceed with the application if the conditions are outside the recommended parameters. Inspect materials to be used. Verify material is the proper material and all components and sizes are correct. D. Inspect all containers and verify a proper factory seal with no signs of damage or leakage. Premix Liquid materials into a smooth homogenous blend before uses. Environmental Conditions All materials are mixed, applied and cured at the job site. Minimum environmental conditions are required to facilitate proper curing and Performance of the Products. Ensure conditions are in accordance with the following requirements. Ambient Min Max Temperature 45 O F 100 O F Relative Humidity 20% rh 85% rh Wind NA 30 mph Substrate Temperature 55 O F 90 O F Relative Humidity NA 78% MVER NA 3 lbs* Materials Temperature 63 O F 83 O F * 3 lbs of MVT, per 1000 sq. ft., during a 24 hr. period as measured by ASTM F1869. Materials should be delivered in original packages and containers with seals unbroken and bearing manufacturer's labels containing brand name and directions for storage and mixing with other components. STEP ONE Resistite Bond Coat A. Apply Resistite Liquid to the prepared substrate at a rate of approx. 500 sq. ft. per gallon. Proceed with application of Neobond Membrane as soon as liquid is tacky. B. Trowel or squeegee approximately 1/8 (3.17mm) of Neobond Membrane Liquid over an area of the floor slightly wider than the width of the 40 inch (one meter) R.P. Fabric, then immediately work the R.P. Fabric into it. The Neobond should be scrape-troweled or squeegeed onto concrete surfaces, then smoothed off to work the R.P. Fabric into it. Excess Neobond will be forced up through the weave of the R.P. Fabric and then smoothed (not scraped) off. The resulting surface should dry without pinholes or voids. If these occur, then the membrane should be re-coated with a thin scrape-coat of Neobond. C. Apply succeeding strips of R.P. Fabric and Neobond with a lap of 3 (8 cm). STEP TWO - Waterproof Base Apply waterproof base using 10 (25 cm) strips of R.P. Fabric and embedding them in Neobond using a stiff brush in the general manner described above. The Neobond membrane flashing should be installed to the desired height (usually 4-6 ) and then extended out onto the previously installed membrane on the flat area. STEP THREE - Installing Resistite Protective Surfacing 1. MIXING -Correct mixing of Resistite is absolutely essential to the proper functioning of the materials. First: Pre-mix the Resistite Liquid itself before each use, using only a variable-speed 1/2 industrial type electric drill with a large Jiffy mixing blade (Model PS-21 as manufactured by Jiffy Mixer Co., 1342-3H Bell Ave., Tustin, CA 92680). This step is essential as the liquid will settle out without being apparent to the eye. Second: Pour the contents of a five gallon pail of Resistite Liquid into a large clean plastic mixing container (large plastic trash container recommended). Then gradually add about two bags (55 lbs. each) Resistite Powder to the liquid. (Note: See Application on next page for exact mix ratios for each coat.) Mix the two materials together with a Jiffy mixing blade as the powder is poured into the liquid. Never reverse this procedure and pour the liquid into the powder. Continue mixing approx. three to five minutes until the materials are thoroughly combined to a lump-free, smooth consistency. If a different type of mixing blade is used other than a Jiffy blade, it may be necessary to mix even longer. Apply Resistite immediately upon completion of mixing. Pot life of material at 70 F - 75 F (21 C - 24 C) is about 30 minutes. Mix no more material than can be applied in that time. Discard any material which starts to set up in the mixing container. Do not attempt to re-temper material. Keep material stirred to avoid aggregate settling in container during use. 2. APPLICATION - Follow cautions outlined below. For first coat, make a Resistite mixture consisting of seventy-five pounds of powder (about 1-1/3 bags) to one five gallon can of liquid. This is the same ratio as 3-1/3 gallons of liquid to one fifty-five pound bag of powder. Apply first coat of Resistite using a squeegee or a stiff brush (similar to Goldblatt Plastic Asphalt Coater #16 218 H7), broom or push broom. It is essential that the first coat of Resistite be worked into the surface to wet the surface. Apply to a thickness of approx. 1/64 th inch (0.4mm). At this first coat thickness, each mix described above (1-1/3 bags to 5 gals. liquid) should cover about 400-500 sq. ft. (37-46 sq. meters). If, when applying, small lumps of dry material are observed, then the material has not been mixed long enough and must be re-mixed before use. Coverage for the first coat is 400-500 sq. ft. per 5 gal. pail / 2 bag mix. Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 3 of 5 Auto-Dex V

NOTE: During high temperatures, slightly dampen surface with water before application. Recommended method for dampening is with a water hose spray nozzle or a hand pumped garden sprayer. Do not dampen to a point where surfaces are shiny wet - only dampen. For the second coat, make a Resistite mix consisting of two bags (55 lbs. each) of powder to one five gallon can of liquid. Apply second coat using either hopper sprayer, squeegee, brush or broom, or trowel, and backroll. If troweled or sprayed, adjust the mix ratio to a heavier than normal consistency (about 2-1/3 bags powder to five gallons liquid). Coverage for the second coat is 350-450 sq. feet. Apply second coat at cross-angles to the first coat and to a thickness of approx. 3/64 (1.19mm). At this second coat thickness, each mix described above (2 bags to 5 gals. liquid) should also cover about 400-500 sq. feet (37-46 sq. meters). For final coat by trowel or squeegee, make Resistite mix consisting of approx. 2-1/3 bags of powder to one 5 gal. can of liquid. Apply to thickness of about 1/16, or slightly greater if desired. Coverage should be approx. 250 sq. feet (24 sq. meters) per mix (2-1/3 bags to 5 gals. liquid). Coverage for the third coat is 300-400 square feet. 3. COLOR FINISH Dex-O-Tex Auto-Dex V is available in two natural colors - - white and grey. The color consistency may be affected by variations in the amount of liquid used in the final coat, atmospheric conditions, or the degree of suction in subsurface. This is particularly the case with the grey material. Mix-batch to mix-batch color consistency to meet a demanding standard cannot usually be expected grey. With careful attention, it can generally be obtained with white material. A uniform finish can be obtained in a variety of materials by using Crossfield Products Corp. AJ-44 Dressing applied in two coats by roller, brush or spray. In some cases, you may wish to add colorant directly to the Resistite mix. Consult Crossfield Products Corp. on the proper type and amount of pigment to add. Dex-O-Tex Quik-Glaze topcoat may be substituted for the AJ-44XL for areas of higher exposure to chemicals. General Cautions 1. Read and follow Crossfield Products Corp. Specification S-900. 2. For proper workability it is important that the Dex-O-Tex materials be stored and mixed at a temperature of 65ºF - 80ºF (18ºC -- 26ºC). 3. The substrate temperature should be between 65ºF - 80ºF. A warm substrate will decrease the pot life and make the materials sticky. A cooler substrate will retard the cure and may cause a blush of the epoxy resins. 4. All concrete curing agents, sealers and hardeners must be removed from the concrete prior to application of the Bondcoat. 5. When mixing the epoxy resin components, be sure to use all of the provided resins. The resins are pre-measured to the correct ratios. Scrape all of the hardener from the container into the resin. 6. Do not turn mixing vessels upside down to drain on the flooring surface. Unmixed resin from the side may produce soft or uncured spots on the flooring surface. 7. Keep the unfinished flooring surface clean. Do not track dirt, grease, or any other contaminate onto the unfinished flooring surface. Any contaminate could effect the aesthetics of the finished flooring. 8. Good ventilation must be provided during application, particularly in confined spaces. 9. Always obtain, read and observe Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) before handling epoxy materials. Become familiar with the products on paper before you open the cans. Cautions for the Safe Handling of Polymeric Resinous Floor Systems 1. Read and observe precautionary statements on product labels. 2. Keep containers tightly closed. Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 4 of 5 Auto-Dex V

3. Keep out of reach of children. 4. For industrial use only. Do not allow application by untrained workers. 5. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before re-use. 6. Use of safety goggles and chemical resistant gloves is recommended. Wear only full length trousers and long-sleeve shirts. Apply protective creams to exposed skin areas. 7. In general, prolonged contact of polymeric resins with skin may cause irritation. Contact with curing agents may cause skin burns. Products may cause skin sensitization or other allergic responses. Avoid all contact with eyes. 8. In cases of contact with skin, immediately remove the material with soap and water. Upon completion of work at lunchtime or end of day, carefully check all skin surfaces for any traces of polymeric resins. Wash with soap and water. If wash facilities are not located nearby, establish site. Do not use solvents to remove polymeric resins from skin as solvents will drive polymeric resins deeper into skin. If redness or a skin rash developed, consult a physician. 9. In the event of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician immediately. 10. Mix and apply polymeric resin materials only in conditions of good ventilation. Avoid breathing vapors. A fan to circulate fresh air may be needed. Certain polymeric resin products and/or certain working conditions require use of NIOSH/MSA organic vapor respirator. Consult MSDS. 11. First Aid for Inhalation: if effects occur, remove patient to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-mouth. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get immediate medical attention. Cautions for the Safe Handling of Latex Floor Systems 1. Always obtain, read and observe Manufacturer s Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) before handling epoxy materials. Become familiar with the products on paper before you open the cans. 2. Read and observe precautionary statements on product labels. 3. Keep containers tightly closed. 4. Keep out of reach of children. 5. For industrial use only. Do not allow applications by untrained workers. 6. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before re-use. 7. Use of safety goggles and dust masks is recommended. See MSDS for detailed recommendations. 8. The Dex-O-Tex latex mastic liquids (N-38, P-61, G-26 etc.) are basically very safe materials to use. Most of these liquids are alkaline or caustic and some have low ammonia content. However, as with most chemical compounds, and because of the caustic nature of the latex, the following precautions and first aid procedures are recommended as a general practice: a. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or clothing. Avoid breathing vapor. Keep container closed when not in use. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. b. In case of eye contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; call a physician. For skin, flush thoroughly with plenty of water. c. If the materials are to be installed in a closely confined space where good ventilation is not possible, in extreme cases workers should wear respirators. Personnel mixing materials in closed areas should wear suitable masks. DEX-O-TEX PRODUCT LINE Crossfield Products Corp. West Coast Office East Coast Office 3000 E.
