The ESCO Story In 1913 C.F. Swigert decided to solve his own problem. Availability of replacement parts for the Portland trolley cars he owned was limited, so he started the Electric Steel Foundry (now ESCO) in order to make what he needed. Business quickly expanded to include proprietary products for the logging industry and the company thrived by designing several patented steel wearparts for industrial machinery. Building on nearly a century of innovation, ESCO Corporation is a global manufacturer of metal parts and components for industrial applications. An entrepreneurial spirit, an obsession with innovation (over 300 patents), a family environment and a can-do attitude characterize the culture of ESCO. This culture has enabled the company to use its considerable manufacturing, metallurgical and engineering skills to become a worldwide, competitive force. ESCO Corporation s commitment to quality products, customer service and ethical business practices has been the cornerstone of its reputation and relationships. Whether delivering earthmoving products for mining and construction; dredge products to dig the Suez and Panama Canals; or turbine components for aerospace and power generation; ESCO takes great pride in exceeding customers expectations. Markets ESCO Turbine Technologies serves the most demanding markets and customers. In order to keep planes flying and power plants generating, their products conform to the tightest specifications and schedule. Some commonly manufactured ESCO Turbine Technologies components include: Aerospace Nozzles and vanes Equiax blades DS/SC blades Structural components Missile components Military applications Industrial Gas Turbines Nozzles and vanes Equiax blades DS/SC blades Structural components Industrial Applications Turbochargers Microturbines Aero-derivative marine applications We asked ESCO Turbine Technologies to build a manufacturing facility that would be fully certified for aerospace parts in a low cost region, so we could meet year over year cost reduction goals. They built a world-class operation in Guaymas, Mexico and have turned out quality castings for us from that facility for the past several years. That s customer responsiveness! Aerospace turbine engine manufacturer The technical knowledge and expertise of the team at ESCO Turbine Technologies allows us to have 100% confidence that what they produce will meet our quality expectations. The fact that they can seamlessly transfer work between facilities helps our speed to market, which is a definite competitive advantage. Manufacturer of industrial gas turbine replacement parts Turbine Technologies world class business ethics, procedures and technical support have resulted in their delivering quality castings on time to us for at least 10 years, with never a past due part. In today s business environment, this accomplishment in itself is evidence that taking care of the customer is everyone s job at ESCO Turbine Technologies. Turbine Technologies Capabilities Product quality, technical capability, customer service, delivery response and cost effectiveness are the key factors to consider in the selection of a casting vendor. ESCO Turbine Technologies production experience involving equiax castings, along with directionally solidified and single crystal technology, offers customers a wide range of product capabilities. Directionally solidified and single crystal components perform the most critical functions in the harshest environment of the turbine engine. The science of single crystal castings involves extensive technical and manufacturing expertise along with process control. ESCO Turbine Technologies provides DS/SC components to both aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine markets. ESCO Turbine Technologies has the capacity to cast large components with vacuum and air melt furnaces capable of pouring up to 500 lbs (227 kg) of metal in vacuum. Along with an automated and robust shelling process, ESCO Turbine Technologies has the metallurgical expertise and dimensional process control to meet the complex requirements of structural castings.
