This lso epesents 21 pecent of the ovell Uppe Flint Rive (Hydologic Unit Code) HUC-8 Bsin, which extends downstem to Mcon County in southen Geogi. Potions of 25 cities nd 5 counties e within the Distict potion of the Uppe Flint Rive Bsin including Fulton, Clyton, Fyette, Cowet nd Heny Counties (Figue UF-1). Lge cities include College P, Fibun, Fyetteville, Newnn, Pechtee City, Rivedle, Tyone nd Union City. Physicl nd Ntul Fetues Geogphy The Uppe Flint Rive Bsin lies entiely within the Piedmont povince nd includes only the Geenville Slope distict. It is chcteized by olling topogphy tht deceses gdully in elevtion fom bout 1,000 feet in the nothest to 600 feet in the southwest. Those flowing to the southwest occupy shllow, open vlleys with bod, ounded divides while those flowing to the southest occupy nowe, deepe vlleys with now, ounded divides (Cl nd Zis, 1976). The Flint Rive is entiely within the Piedmont povince, which consists of seies of olling hills nd occsionl isolted mountins. The Uppe Flint Rive Bsin includes potions of the Ginesville Ridge, Geenville Slope, Wshington Slope nd Winde Slope physiogphic disticts (Meto Wte Distict, 2002). Hydology nd Soils The Uppe Flint Rive Bsin oigintes in Atlnt nd dins to ll of Fyette County nd potions of Clyton, Cowet, Dougls nd Heny Counties. It eventully dins to the Gulf of Mexico t Aplchicol By in Floid. It is compised of one 8-digit HUC, thee 10-digit HUCs nd nineteen 12-digit HUCs, nd its min tibuties e Line, Moning, White O nd Whitewte ees. Of the ppoximtely 240 miles of ssessed wtes in the Uppe Flint Rive Bsin, 17 pecent e designted solely fo dining wte, 18 pecent fo dining wte nd fishing with the emining 64 pecent designted fo fishing (Figue UF-2). Stem dischges fo the Flint Rive nd its tibuties e ecoded by the USGS sttion 02344500, the Flint Rive ne Giffin. Annul flows nge fom low of 9.2 cubic feet pe second (cfs) to high of 3,150 cfs, with men of 290 cfs (USGS, 2015). While none of the Uppe Flint Rive Bsin within the Meto Wte Distict ws selected s pioity quife fo ssessment, the etceous Aquife in Geogi's Costl Plin includes the southen tip of the Uppe Flint Rive HUC-8 wteshed below the fll line. The quifes in the Piedmont povince e in cystlline ocs tht cop out in the nothen potion of the bsin nd extend to the fll line. The oc is ovelin with deposits of wetheed, unconsolidted oc debis (egolith) tht me up the vilble quife spces.
