Job Specification Summary Name of position : Projects Manager Opening date for applications : 16 October 2017 Closing date for applications : 3 November 2017 Commencement date : 1 January 2018 Department : Projects Salary : R660,000.00 CTC per annum (negotiable) Reference : FAS/LLS/PD/RECRUITMENT/CON929 Introduction The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Fasset) invites applications for a Projects Manager responsible for the overall management, execution and completion of discretionary projects in line with the Seta s organisational strategy, mandate and goals. The Projects Manager is tasked with the design, planning, budgeting, implementation and reporting of discretionary projects aimed at addressing scarce skills in the sector and the achievement of set performance targets. This entails deploying a multi-disciplinary approach to project management to ensure effective financial, stakeholder, people management and that robust project monitoring and evaluation is implemented to deliver on the required outputs. This is a contract position until 31 March 2020 in line with the re-establishment of Setas until this period by the Minister of Higher Education and Training. Fasset is the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Seta). Over 20 Setas were established in March 2000 in terms of the Skills Development Act, to cover all sectors in South Africa, including Government. The members of a Seta include employers, trade unions, professional bodies, government departments and bargaining councils, where relevant, from each industrial sector. Ensure that stakeholder relationships are productive, encourage buy-in and commitment and that mutually beneficial results are achieved Strategic Monitoring and Evaluation Monitor project progress and management of contracts Review monthly project progress reports and action accordingly Assess project risks and determine impact on project viability, scope, budget, timelines and quality Manage day-to-day project risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation on adverse events Manage and track project deliverables and target achievement Implement and monitor project changes/ interventions to achieve project outputs Conduct project evaluations and prepare assessment results Reporting Prepare project progress reports detailing time, cost, quality, risk issues and solutions Report on trends and other key areas of research interest for impact and evaluation purposes Present current, accurate and timely information for informed and strategic decision-making Develop and maintain accurate and complete records for all project-related documentation for reporting and auditing purposes People Management Assemble and coordinate project staff Provide direction and support to project team Ensure that the projects department is upskilled and acquire required competencies Mentor and develop project staff Generic responsibilities Work in accordance with Fasset s policies and procedures Contribute to organisational development initiatives, as required Monitor progress of actions, as required, reporting any slippage against approved timelines Demonstrate a positive commitment to organisational values Manage risk and create innovative solutions to problems Ability to work unconventional hours, stress tolerance and travel extensively Date of Commencement of Position Successful candidate will be required to start on the 1 January 2018. Salary The salary to be offered for this position is R660, 000.00 CTC per annum. Assessment Applicants will be required to take a proficiency test assessing the knowledge, experience and attributes needed.
