4 Egyptian Renewable Energy Plan

RE Generation plan The New & Renewable Energy strategy aims to increase the share of generated energy from renewable energy to 20% out of the total generated energy in Egypt by 2022, out of which 6% from hydro sources, 12 % from wind energy and 2% from other renewable energy sources especially the solar energy. The strategy includes the construction of wind projects with the participation of the private sector to bring the total installed capacity to 7200 MW by 2022. The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company is coordinating with the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) in Generation planning considering the share of renewable energy in the generation mix and Network planning needed for the evacuation of the generated power from renewables.
