Pre-installation checklist 1. Contractor qualifications verified. 2. Project manager is Belden/CDT installer certified. 3. Project manager has read specifications, and specs to be on-site during work. 4. Project manager is trained and certified to use a Fluke Networks DTX tester. 5. Pre-registration of project with product manufacturers for warranty. 6. CAD drawings provided to or obtained by contractor. 7. As-built drawings required, keep notes on all changes. 8. Review fiber backbone installation requirements and lengths. Have RCDD call. 9. On-reel testing of fiber cables required. 10. Questions regarding specs or job scope. 11. Meet with project manager / foreman and installers and advise on District requirements / expectations and installation checklist. (i.e. Carefully follow Belden/CDT installation practices, station ID format & size, no visible or unprotected cable, staggered 7ft. service loops in closet or hallway, slack in cable where conduit meets raceway, no tie-wraps on cable, beware of distances to farthest locations, clear labeling of fiber cable, replace bolts on manhole covers, set cable type in tester correctly, cleanup debris).

1 Installation Checklist 1. Specifications on site. 2. Project manager has read specifications 3. Only BICSI-certified technicians and installers on job. 4. Specified materials to be used on job (10GX12 CMR, 10GX13 CMP). 5. Drawing being updated for as-built. 6. CPI racks and cable management delivered. 7. Racks placed 36 from rear of upright channels to walls, bolted to floor. 8. Ladder racks anchored to top of racks. 9. Ladder racks anchored to walls with correct brackets. 10. Verify UL labeling on racks and splice components. 11. Blank filler panel installed into patch panel side of middle rack(s). 12. Large CPI cable management brackets installed into racks. 13. Rack vertical rails bonded to communications ground bus bar. 14. Ladder rack sections bonded to each other by straps or UL splices. 15. Ladder rack bonded to communications ground bus bar. 16. Copper cable delivered (CMR / CMP) partial balance 17. Data & voice jacks delivered partial balance 18. Faceplates & other materials delivered partial balance 19. Patch panels placed into racks. 20. Copper cables placed (rough-in) partial balance 21. Service loops placed neatly above racks or in hallway.

2 22. All wall station jacks terminated. 23. Station cable sheath labeled. 24. Wall faceplates and inserts installed (straight, level). 25. Wall faceplates labeled. 26. Floorbox jacks terminated and faceplates installed. 27. Floorbox faceplates labeled. 28. Above-ceiling jacks terminated and correct ceiling faceplates installed. 29. Above-ceiling faceplates labeled. 30. Surface raceway faceplates installed. 31. Surface raceway faceplates labeled. 32. Surface raceway blank faceplates installed where necessary. 33. Furniture / table faceplates installed. 34. Furniture / table faceplates labeled. 35. Dust caps installed on all data jacks (some missing ). 36. All cables terminated at patch panels. 37. Cables neatly dressed behind racks and within Equipment Room. 38. Patch panel cable sheath labeled. 39. Station locations cleaned of debris. 40. Equipment Room cleaned of debris. 41. Communications / ladder rack cleaned of construction dust. 42. Fluke DTX to be used is within calibration period. 43. Fluke DTX has latest firmware installed. 44. Fluke DTX cable type set correctly from cable library.

3 45. All cables pass testing with Fluke DTX with no marginal pass. 46. All fire-stopping installed to DSA inspector satisfaction. 47. Firewall penetrations labeled and photographed. 48. Blue patch cords delivered, 12 x X patch panels (XX), 7. 49. Blue patch cords delivered, 36 x X patch panels (XX), 10. 50. Gray station cords delivered, 48 x X patch panels (XX) - 10%; 10. 51. Gray station cords delivered, 48 x X patch panels (XX) x 10%; 15. 52. Network equipment patched to panels and neatly dressed. 53. Fiber cable lengths carefully measured prior to ordering. 54. Fiber cable delivered. 55. OTDR to be used is within calibration period. 56. OTDR has latest firmware installed. 57. Splice housing mounted in?? room. 58. All fiber patch panels installed in racks. 59. Fiber cables placed, with Muletape installed alongside. 60. Service loops in utility bunkers (except for Plug & Play cable). 61. Fiber cable identified / labeled after installation. 62. Fiber splices and terminations within tolerances (0.15 db splice; 0.3dB term.) 63. No fiber cable splicing except as noted in specs. 64. Fiber tested with Fluke DTX and correct fiber adaptors. 65. Fiber tested with Fluke or Corning OTDR. 66. Bolts installed on all manhole covers. 67. Fluke DTX copper and fiber test results downloaded to PC.

4 68. Sample random station locations checked for proper termination. 69. Sample random re-tests done and verified against original. 70. Test results CD received (Fluke DTX copper & fiber, OTDR). 71. As-built drawing CD and 2 hardcopy sets received. May be on same CD as test results. 72. Belden/CDT warranty received. 73. Corning Cable Systems warranty received.
