Posting Date: June 12, 2012 Closing Date: Position itle: Unit: Program: Work Week: Employment Category: Status: June 29, 2012 at 5pm Manager of and Community Development 35 hours Full ime Non Bargaining Unit Program Overview & Position Summary: his position is accountable to the Senior Manager and Community Development for the property management operations and community development activities and programs within WoodGreen Program. his position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities and programmes designed to promote community involvement and capacity building and which address community needs and identified service gaps in a high need environment. Main Responsibilities: Management of the day-to-day property management operations at various WoodGreen sites. Operate the housing portfolio programs including staff performance, legislative compliance, program marketing, compliance with organizational policies and appropriate representation to the community, consumers, funders and other community service providers. Work in conjunction with other on-site staff to ensure that there is a comprehensive and integrated approach to identifying needs within the community and developing appropriate responses. Work in partnership with the Manager of Building Services to ensure that there is an excellent working relationship between maintenance, cleaning and program staff. Organizational planning and development. Provide recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision of housing staff. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum Bachelor s degree, preferably Master s degree and/or Bachelor s degree and equivalent work experience. Preferably MSW, BSW, or property management related degree. Experience: Minimum 2 years experience developing and managing housing in progressively responsible positions in the non-profit sector. Minimum 2 years experience working with homeless and under-housed people Experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment. Experience working with diverse communities. Other: horough understanding of the issues of homelessness, poverty and discrimination facing these communities and how these issues affect the lives of individuals. Highly developed skills using community development approaches. Knowledge of property management and building systems. Well developed interpersonal skills that will facilitate effective, productive and appropriate relationships with the tenant community, external agencies and WoodGreen staff. Proven ability to challenge organizations, staff and tenant communities in a positive and creative way to effect better service. Financial and budget management skills. Strong communication and group facilitation skills. Strong conflict resolution, negotiation and crisis intervention/ prevention skills. Demonstrated organizational, planning and analytical skills. Excellent multitasking and time management skill with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong writing and editing skills. Strong computer proficiency. Capable of fulfilling the physical and psychological requirements of the position as outlined by the attached Position Demands Analysis.
