Be a researcher who has worked for at least 2 years over the period of the last 3 years in organisation/s outside the Czech Republic in the field of research, with working time at least 0.5 FTE or who was a Ph.D. student abroad. Nr. 2 Post-transcriptional control of gene expression The Laboratory of Post-transcriptional Control of Gene Expression is looking for a motivated postdoctoral fellow. Successful candidate will be engaged in one of the major projects running in the Laboratory focused on post-transcriptional control of gene expression mediated by noncoding srnas and RNA chaperone Hfq. Research group currently identifies factors required for successful infection and persistence of current clinical isolates of Bordetella pertussis, a strictly human pathogen causing whooping cough. In addition to transcriptomics, proteomics will be also applied for identification of biomarkers responsible for pathogenesis of whooping cough. Nr. 3 Regulation of translational control in humans The Laboratory of Regulation of Gene Expression at the Institute of Microbiology CAS in Prague (http://www.biomed.cas.cz/mbu/lrge/) led by Dr. Leoš S. Valášek is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral fellow position in the area of regulation of Translational control in humans. One of the main goals of the Valášek laboratory s research program is to understand the role of several eukaryotic initiation factors in the process of regulation of translation initiation and termination in humans in both general, as well as gene-specific manner. The successful applicant will develop a new research project aiming to describe novel mechanisms of translational control in human cells and their deregulation in cancer cells using state-of-the art molecular studies. Nr. 4 Discovery and biosynthesis of natural products The Laboratory of Biology of Secondary Metabolism in Prague is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who will be involved in the research dealing with the biosynthetic pathways of natural products. The main task will be to participate in elucidation of individual biosynthetic steps of lincosamide antibiotics and anticancer pyrrolobenzodiazepines. The acquired knowledge will subsequently be exploited to prepare more efficient hybrid bioactive compounds with potential application in the pharmaceutical industry. The specific approach will be based on chemical analysis using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.
