Details about each position and mentors: Nr. 1 Ecology of plant-microbe interactions The Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology is looking for a motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in the field of ecology of plant-microbe interactions. The person will collaborate on the projects of the Laboratory and perform his/her own research. The research focus is the community ecology of microorganisms and their interactions with plants in natural and managed ecosystems. We offer the work in inspiring and friendly environment of an international team of the Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology (laboratory head: Petr Baldrian) of the Institute of Microbiology in Prague, Czech Republic (see e.g. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/petr_baldrian) and access to interesting experiments / datasets produced by the host institution and their collaborators. Gross salary: 3300 USD / month. The starting date is negotiable, but the position has to start before April 30, 2018. The position is offered for two years.

PhD degree or its equivalent in the field of ecology, microbiology, plant sciences or similar Experience in microbial or plant ecology, biostatistics or bioinformatics. Mastery of advanced statistical methods (including general linear models, multivariate analyses, structural equation modeling) and knowledge of the R statistical environment. First-authored papers in leading IF journals in the field of microbial ecology, plant ecology, plant-microbe interactions, biostatistics or bioinformatics For more information about the position Nr. 1, please contact mentor Petr Baldrian (baldrian@biomed.cas.cz). Nr. 2 Post-transcriptional control of gene expression The Laboratory of Post-transcriptional Control of Gene Expression is looking for a motivated postdoctoral fellow. Successful candidate will be engaged in one of the major projects running in the Laboratory focused on post-transcriptional control of gene expression mediated by noncoding srnas and RNA chaperone Hfq. Research group currently identifies factors required for successful infection and persistence of current clinical isolates of Bordetella pertussis, a strictly human pathogen causing whooping cough. In addition to transcriptomics, proteomics will be also applied for identification of biomarkers responsible for pathogenesis of whooping cough. We offer the work in an international team of the Laboratory of Post-transcriptional Control of Gene Expression (laboratory head: Branislav Vecerek) of the Institute of Microbiology in Prague, Czech Republic (see e.g. http://mbucas.cz/en/research/microbiology/laboratory-of-post-transcriptional-control-ofgene-expression/ ) closely collaborating with several laboratories abroad (Vienna, Lille). Gross salary: 2900 USD / month. The starting date is negotiable, but the position has to start before April 30, 2018. The position is offered for two years. PhD degree or its equivalent in the field of molecular biology or microbiology Knowledge and expertise in microbiology and cell biology (methods of molecular microbiology, work with bacterial pathogens and tissue cultures, FACS) and RNA biology (Northern blot, 5 /3 RACE, EMSA, RT-qPCR).
