1 Clarity Genomics Clarity Genomics BVBA is a Belgian-based biotech contract research organization (CRO) providing host-microbiome data analysis and interpretation services for clinical research. Clarity Genomics supports translational and clinical development programs leveraging the therapeutic and diagnostic potential of the host microbiome. Clarity Genomics differentiates itself from existing contract research organizations through its expertise in performing integrative analysis of multi-omic data with expertise in longitudinal microbiome-metabolome interactions. With access to a manually curated database of thousands of human metagenomes and involvement in large-scale collaboration projects including the Earth Microbiome Project, the American Gut Project and the NIH Human Microbiome Project, Clarity Genomics is developing a platform that learns how human microbiome communities interact with the host through analysis of genetic, functional, and metabolic data. This knowledge, when combined with partnerships with leading research institutions, accelerates the development of biological insights for biomarker discovery, patient stratification and therapeutic response evaluation for better healthcare. For Clarity Genomics, Janssen s strategic interest in microbiome research and the direct access to the Janssen Human Microbiome Institute were key drivers to join JLINX. 2 Background Clarity Genomics Founded in 2016, Clarity Genomics Inc. is a spin-off company from Rob Knight s Lab at UC San Diego, worldrenowned for the development of computational and experimental techniques to characterize microbial life and interpret variability and diversity of microbial communities in complex ecosystems. In close collaboration with Pieter Dorrestein s Lab which develops mass spectrometry approaches for analysis of microbial metabolic exchange, new advances have been made toward understanding correlations between microbial communities and their local chemical signatures using DNA sequencing and mass spectrometry. Among other genomics services, Clarity Genomics leverages these novel technologies to provide insights into microbiome-metabolome interactions using a combination of DNA sequencing and metabolomic data. Before founding Clarity Genomics, Dr. Evguenia Kopylova co-developed multiple sequencing, analysis and profiling software tools in collaboration with academic experts including Rob Knight Professor, Dept. Pediatrics and Computer Science, University of California San Diego (UC San Diego), Hélène Touzet CNRS Research Director, Laurent Noé Associate Professor, Dept. Computer Science, University of Lille and Olivier Jaillon Researcher, Institute of Genomics - CEA, Genoscope. A number of these software are recognized worldwide as key tools for microbial data analysis as reflected by their large number of citations from the scientific community. Clarity Genomics management is affiliated with the Rady School of Management (UC San Diego) and Harvard Business School. In early 2017, Clarity Genomics BVBA joined the J&J Innovation JLINX incubation and investment model managed by Bioqube Ventures. This strategic partnership has allowed Clarity Genomics to rapidly expand it s analysis platform and launch service operations within months of joining. Technology Clarity Genomics leverages secure cloud computing, including security and privacy compliance in accordance with HIPPA, and reproducibility and documentation for CLIA compliance, for high-throughput data analysis. Clarity Genomics actively engages in collaborations with leading research institutions including UC San Diego, CNRS Lille and Center for Integrative Biology, Trento University to develop advanced multi-omic analysis tools including QIIME, deblur, curatedmetagenomicdata, GNPS, ili toolbox for 2-3D molecular mapping, MetaPhlAn and SortMeRNA. To stay on the forefront of host-microbiome data analysis innovation, Clarity Genomics recently began to accelerate integration of machine learning algorithms and leverage its data aggregation potential for smarter diagnostics across different microbiome ecosystems. 2

Our clinical lab partners offer DNA sequencing (RNA-Seq, WGS, shotgun metagenomics, targeted gene) and mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS) data which is subsequently uploaded to our secure cloud platforms for analysis.
