Training for Volunteer Befrienders - Communication Skills for Befrienders - Managing Boundaries in Befriending This training is for volunteers and will look at specific skills needed in a befriending relationship. Relationships take work and being able to communicate with the person you are befriending and in some cases being assertive will help volunteers build more effective relationships. Knowing the boundaries and being able to manage these is a skill in itself so this training will help volunteers to think about how they will communicate and manage the do's and don't of befriending. Get your volunteer together and we will come and deliver this training for you - one full day or two half days or evenings - you choose! We will tailor it just for your befriending scheme. SPECIAL DISCOUNT for a limited period 35 per volunteer for both topics or 20 per volunteer for one topic (*minimum 10 people) * Don't have 10 volunteer befrienders? Why not join with another organisation, the networking for volunteers would be an added bonus! For more information or to book a time to train your volunteers, contact Sandra Adair by email or on 028 9081 8304. Investing in Volunteers Are you reviewing your end of year budget or putting your budget together for next year? Now's the time to add the Investing in Volunteers Award to your 'to do' list!

Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. If you want to benchmark the quality of your volunteer management and involvement, prove and improve the effectiveness of your work with volunteers and enhance your organisation's reputation, Investing in Volunteers is the ideal quality standard for you. Some other quality frameworks include volunteer management, but none of them cover the management of volunteers in such comprehensive detail. Investing in Volunteers is the best tool to help organisations involving volunteers achieve this good practice, as well as receive recognition for it. You could join over 750 organisations who have already achieved this quality accreditation throughout the UK and the 85 organisations who have achieved the Investing in Volunteers award in Northern Ireland. The Award, which is retained for three years, has been achieved by both small local organisations involving 6-8 volunteers and large regional and national organisations involving hundreds of volunteers. To find out more about how Investing in Volunteers can work for you, check out the Northern Ireland section of the UK Investing in Volunteers website or contact David Fitzsimons to discuss how you can get involved on 028 9081 8330 or email. Volunteer Management Health Checks The Volunteer Management Health Check involves a half day consultation with an Advisor who will benchmark your volunteer programme against the 9 indicators in the UK Investing in Volunteers Standard. A report will then be compiled for you, which will include a development plan and actions to assist you in building on your existing volunteer management to meet the practices in the standard. If you are a registered charity, and your organisation's income is over 100,000 the cost of the Health Check is 350 exc. VAT. The cost for statutory organisations involving volunteers is 500 exc. VAT. To book your Volunteer Management Health Check or find out more about how it can assist your volunteer programme, contact David Fitzsimons on 028 9081 8330 or by email.
