Typical applications boiler flooding protection When boilers are shut-down and steam pressure lost, the head of water above the pump can cause flow through the pump flooding the boiler. How V's work Spirax Sarco V wafer check valves are opened by the flow pressure of the fluid and closed by the spring when flow ceases and before reverse flow can occur. Open losed Installation The design of the Spirax Sarco V wafer check valve allows installation between flanges in any plane and with flow in any direction. The only exception is when the V is installed without a spring. The unit must then be installed in a vertical pipe with upward flow. The unique cam design of the V, and allows the various flange types to be accommodated by simply rotating the body to touch all flange bolts which automatically self centres the valve in the pipeline. The V4, 7, 8 and 9 use the body or cut outs in the body for location between the various NSI standard flanges.
