SECTION Drawing E4.3, Note #39: Reference to the radio fire alarm panel and the fire station alerting master panel does not relate to the building fire alarm system. The electrical sub contractor shall furnish and install the fire alarm system as specified in Section 16100, SECTION Scope of work under this section includes all conduit, raceways, boxes, and pull strings to support the technology systems, as specified. It does not include wiring, equipment, and devices, provided under a separate contract. 3. Sub-sub trades listed in paragraph E of the Filed Sub Bid Form shall include: For HVAC: Automatic Temperature Controls, Balancing, Sheet Metal Work, Insulation and Hydronic Piping. For Plumbing: Insulation 4. Touch up of cementitious siding, including cut edges, shall be by the General Contractor, not part of the scope of Section PAINTING. 5. SECTION 15600: Add PIPING MATERIALS A. All piping and fittings, including nipples shall be of new materials, absolutely perfect throughout, scale free, and of the best grade guaranteed full weight. All piping shall conform to ASA "Code for Pressure Piping". All nipples and fittings shall be of the same material and thickness as the pipe that they are used, as otherwise note and/or where screwed fittings are used on steel pipe, in which case they shall have heavy band and clean cut, full tapered thread. Welded fittings shall be standard weight, conforming to ASA B Welded elbows shall be long radius pattern, unless otherwise specifically authorized for each location. All ferrous to non-ferrous piping connections shall be made with dielectric union. B. Forced Hot Water Piping System: a. In general, all forced hot water piping shall be Schedule 40, ASTM A53 STEEL PIPE b. All piping 2 inches and smaller shall have screwed ends and screwed fittings; piping 2-1/2 inches and larger shall be all welded construction with flanged ends c. Screwed fittings shall be 150 PSI rated, malleable iron: i. No cast iron fittings shall be used d. Flanges shall be 150 lb. ASA welding neck, drilled to suit, made up with 1/16- inch-thick, ring type, compressed sheet gaskets, cold-pressed semi- finished hexagon nuts and square forged head commercial steel bolts e. Unions shall be 300 lb., brass seated malleable iron as manufactured by Dart, Walworth, Jefferson, or equal

2 September 6, 2016 Page 2 of 5 f. Steel pipe nipples 6 inches long and shorter shall be schedule 80 steel pipe nipples g. No close nipples shall be used for any purpose h. Welded fittings shall be Tube Turn, Tube Line, Weld Bend, or equal. All tees shall be as hereinafter listed except that reinforced outlets as manufactured by Weld-O-Let, Thread-O-Let, Bonny Forge, or equal, may be used where the branch line is two (2) sizes smaller than the pipe connected thereto i. Strainers shall have cast iron bodies. Baskets for strainers shall be stainless steel C. City cold water make-up piping, piping shall be type "L" hard copper piping with 150 PSI rated wrought copper fittings and joined with "Silver-Brite 100" (or approved as equal) solder. D. Blowdown piping and safety valve discharge piping may be type "L" hard copper piping with 150# wrought copper fittings and joined with "Silver-Brite 100" (or approved as equal) solder. 6. SECTION 15600, Add VALVES A. Acceptable Manufacturers, or equal: a. Hammond (Only the type that meet the Specifications below) b. Milwaukee (Only the type that meet the Specifications below) c. Jenkins (Only the type that meet the Specifications below) d. Apollo (Only the type that meet the Specifications below) B. All valves where shown, or as necessary for shut-off to ensure the proper operation of equipment shall be provided. Where regulation of flow is necessary or desirable, a globe or ball valve shall be used. Where reverse flow is possible under any conditions, check valves shall be used. All valves shall be so constructed that they may be repacked under pressure while open. C. Valves for forced hot water service shall be as follows: a. Globe Valves: i. 2 inch and smaller: Bronze body, brass trim, renewable composition disc, screw-over bonnet, screwed ends, Class 150 ii. 2-1/2 inch and larger: Iron body, brass trim, renewable composition disc, flanged ends, OS&Y, flanged ends, Class 150

Ball valves shall be Apollo Series (threaded) and Series (solder end) (or approved equal) vinyl coated lever, bronze body and retainer, reinforced Teflon seats and packing, chrome plated ball rated at 600 PSI: c. Swing Check Valves: 1. Screwed ends for steel or brass pipe 2. Solder ends for copper pipe i. 2 inch and smaller: Bronze body, regrindable bronze disc, screwed ends, Class 150 ii. 2-1/2 inch and larger: Iron body, regrindable bronze disc and seat ring, flanged ends, Class 125 d. Lift Check Valves: i. 2 inch and smaller: Bronze body, renewable composition disc, spring loaded, screw over cap, screwed ends, Class 150 ii. 2-1/2 inch and larger: Bronze body, renewable composition disc, spring loaded, screw over cap, flanged ends, Class 125 e. Drain Valves: i. Drain valves shall be Apollo Series (threaded) and Series (solder end) (or approved equal) ii. Same as ball valve except with hose bib end and with hydrant cap and chain stay D. Valves for city water make-up service shall be as follows: a. Ball Valves: i. Ball valves shall be Apollo Series (threaded) and Series (solder end) (or approved equal) vinyl coated lever, bronze body and retainer, reinforced Teflon seats and packing, chrome plated ball rated at 600 PSI: b. All gate valves, globe valves, and check valves shall be of the same manufacturer b. All ball valves shall be of the same manufacturer c. All valve handles shall be in the proper position. In general: i. All overhead valves (valves installed 4 feet or higher above boiler room floor) will have valve stems/handles in the horizontal position ii. All lower valves (valves installed lower than 4 feet above boiler room floor) will have valve stems/handles in the upright vertical position d. In any case each valve and valve handle shall be located so as to be easily reached and turned without exposing the operator (person using the valve) to hot pipes or other hot surfaces or to having his/her hand jammed against other near obstructions e. Any valves installed improperly shall be replaced or relocated at the direction of the Engineer without any additional cost to the Owner: i. Any decision by the Engineer shall be final F. NO VALVES MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE THE USA WILL BE ACCEPTED G. VALVE TAGS AND PIPE MARKING A. Provide a 2 inch diameter brass tag with black labels and brass chain on all new and existing valves with type of service: HOT WATER SUPPLY, HOT WATER RETURN, CITY COLD WATER, and all other service not listed herein. B. All new piping shall be identified with the name of the service and flow directional arrows. Labels shall have 1" lettering and installed at an angle so that the identification can be read from the floor. Labels shall be installed 10' on centers, at each elbow where there is a change of direction. Colors of bands and lettering shall be per applicable Code requirements. C. Submit for review and approval a list of all tags and labels for acceptance prior to manufacturing. 7. The following sketch is hereby included as part of the Contract Documents: SKA.5.
