southeast-sewer BA 4, Nuremberg A Company with profile Zertifikate in englisch? The trenchless installation of pipelines is making up an ever increasing portion of modern sewer and pipeline construction. Partially dilapidated sewer and pipeline systems in cities and increasingly dense development of our urban residential districts create in-creasing demand for modern construction methods. With expert technical knowhow and its own mechanical engineering department, Max Bögl Pipe Jacking Division, a specialist in the area of NO- DIG construction methods, plays a significant role in this development. The company located in Schwabach near Nuremberg offers technical, economical and environmentally friendly solutions in the areas of tunnelling, pipe jacking, microtunnelling, injections, boring, civil engineering and special mechanical engineering. The professional qualifications, innovative ideas and enthusiasm of the employees have enabled Max Bögl Pipe Jacking Division to become a specialist over the course of its 30-years old company history, recognized within the field as an expert in diverse underground and tunnel construction activities. In addition to the closed construction method, the sealing of structures, horizontal well construction, drilling of small steel pipes for ground freezing and the construction of tunnelling machines are important parts of the company s range of services. With about 70 employees, Max Bögl Pipe Jacking Division participates in numerous construction projects of all dimensions and difficulties both in Germany and abroad from the planning and performance of pipe jacking to the creation of alternatives to conventional solutions as well as design, construction, leasing and sale of complete tunnelling equipment. In addition, the company is engaged in several joint ventures beyond Europe in the Asian region, as well as in the east and Middle East area. 3
Mechanized Tunnelling and Pipe Jacking southeast-sewer BA 4, Nuremberg (above), start-shaft Wesseling, tunnelling-line east (below) Tunnelling in particular, currently the most environmentally friendly construction method has increasingly developed into an economically interesting alternative to conventional open pipe trenches. One special tunnelling process is the pipe jacking technology. There we have achieved optimal results in our construction projects already for decades. Not only did we contribute significantly to the development of this process, our extensive experience and comprehensive know-how in the area of modern tunnelling also put us in a position to fulfill all construction projects assigned to us to the fullest satisfaction of our customers. With special and state-of-the art control systems, tunnel pipes can be accurately laid in dimensions from ID 500 to ID 4000. Precise surveying technology makes it possible for us to exactly implement both perfectly straight stretches and specified curved drives. Even smaller cross-sections, such as for creation of building connections, are included within our range of activities. All the required machinery and equipment from manual mining to highly developed machinery use for all geological areas of DIN 18319 is developed, designed and manufactured in-house or adapted to the project-specific conditions at job site. The precise understanding of the soil conditions and exact advance planning guarantee the selection of the right machinery and logistics concept, thereby securing the technical and economic success of the project as well as punctual completion. systemdrawing tunnelling with muck skip conveyance systemdrawing tunnelling with slurry system 4
fullface cutting machine ID 1800, rock cutting head machine interior Mechanical Engineering Restructuring within the tunnelling mechanical engineering department resulted in economically and technically advanced solutions in the area of special mechanical engineering. This involves more than just the development and sale of innovative machines for the global market. With a perspective that is expanding to include the promising area of supply and disposal, this also applies internally to the conversion of machines for the special requirements at the construction site. Planned with an outside diameter of 2.20 meters, designed and built in-house, our newest development, the full face cutting machine VSM 1800, along with additional individual tunnel construction equipment, can be purchased directly from us and/or leased with personnel and at prices better than the machines previously available on the market. The driving systems available and used by Max Bögl include: Full face cutting machines for soft ground and hard rock Microtunnelling machines Open shields with excavator or road header Compressed air shields Mixshields and EPB-shields excavator ID 2000 fullface cutting machine ID 1600, road header ID 2000 soft-rock cutting head 5

One of the most important premises is a permanent, well dosed bentonite lubrication, which produces a constant bentonite-film in the annular gap. Most suitable is here the automatic bentonite lubrication system by Max Bögl, which distributes the bentonite lubrication by remote-controlled valves. There it s possible to programme individually the desired quantity, the time duration, the allocation and the aspired pressure in the control unit. In exceptional circumstances it s also possible to activate the valves and the bentonite-pump manually. A permanent visual display and recording of all data is in the control unit too. The complete data can be exported by USBport. Regarding a continuous documentation, as required in DWA-A 125, the following data is automatic measured and recorded: Date and Time of day Length of pipe jacking Tunnelling-forces separately for main press station and intermediate jacking station General space bending in the relevant pipe-groove (up to 6 pipe-grooves) 6 bentonite-mixer (above), arrangement of bentonite-valves in large-diameter pipes (right)
pilotboring subway Wehrhahn-Linie, Düsseldorf boring horizontaldrains, U3/3 Munich Boring Civil Engineering Another application is the creation (making, production) of horizontal boreholes using the pilot rod-application. Whether the drilling is linear or not, created as a flat bottom or through hole bearing, this application is practicable until a inner diameter of 300 mm both above and underneath groundwater. But at first it is used to get pipes for mediums like water, gas or cables into the ground. The small diameter allows miscellaneous possibilities of use like ground freezing etc. Another area of drilling is horizontal well construction such as for groundwater pipelines or drinking water collection. Whether using the pressure drilling process, Ranny-Fally process, Fehlmann process or pebble sheath process: we offer the optimal solution for the process preferred by you. In the area of underground civil engineering, our activities are focused on new construction of structures. Whether this involves the realization of smaller sewer shafts or expensive double vortex pressure wells we always offer our customers complete and thoroughly conceived solutions with planning, design and construction. With our know-how and the support of our other divisions, Max Bögl Group is capable of providing you with complete solutions from a single source. Injections Professional sealing injections are performed for underground structures, excavations or water reservoirs with poorly sealed joints. The areas in which our in-house injection department is active include the repair of: cracks in human-accessible sewers water entrances in tunnels poorly sealed joints and structures faulty sewer pipes defective multi-function sewers cracked sheet piling in the groundwater The resins that we use are environmentally friendly and do not contaminate the soil or the groundwater. They react completely with water, do not undergo any additional reactions and form, depending on the composition, a hard or elastic final product. Typical commercial products are used for restoring the joints. 7
