CO2 Peaks Washing Column With TrendMiner s powerful influence factor and compare functionality, we solved a chemical washout problem in only 2 hours, saving 1.8 M annually. Marc Pijpers, Sitech services CHALLENGES Chemical to be washed out, shows CO2 peaks after washing unit This deactivates the catalyst Steam consumption was increased but problem remained The goal is the determination of the root cause of the chemical peak and gain new insights into the process SOLUTION Search peak periods within vast amount of process data Compare peak periods vs normal operation periods and identified influence factors. Elevated steam to increase the temperature in the washing unit is not mainly influential on the peak Amount of washing fluid and lower pressure connected to good and more stable operation RESULTS Gaining new process insights by identification of new influential process parameters More stable operation with less shutdowns. Ammonia production increased by 4,9% Steam consumption decreased 4,6% Annual benefits: 1,8 M 10
