HISTORICAL - 500 000 : direct evacuation Scene from the 3 rd century BC Fumes through the chimney Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 2 Heating through the stove pipe

BUT WHAT WAS BEFORE 5500ºC The Sun 4.5 billion years ago it started And it can provide us energy for another 30 billion years Mean distance from earth 1.496 108 km The surface temperature is about 5500ºC At the surface of the Sun the intensity of the solar radiation is about 6.35 107W/m2 Sunlight striking Earth provides 1374W/m² The earth absorb from the sun 23000TW-Yr (200 1015 kwh) The total power used by the world per year is 15TW 1m² 63500000 W/m2 1374W Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 3

THE SOLAR ENERGY In 60 min. the sun provide energy to the earth more than the human use in One year. Everybody can use it Can be used in several forms Untapped energy It is a green energy It saves our money Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 4

THE SOLAR ENERGY Passive Active Passive Active Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 5

SUN ROOM Properly oriented Reduce heating load by 20 to 50% Collect, store, and distribute solar energy in winter Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue high-performance Windows 7

SOLAR WATER HEATING In Summer 60 to 80ºC Thermosiphonic In Winter sunny day 40 to 50ºC In Winter Cloudy day 30 to 40ºC Forced circulation Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 8

SOLAR HEATING POSSIBILITY Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 10

THE PROBLEM Heating load DHW load What if it is a cloudy day? We need to heat in winter How to store the solar energy for evening and night use? Can we do it without installing a boiler? YES WE CAN Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 11

LOW TEMPERATURE HEATING Old standard 90ºC 70ºC Small radiators with high temperature EN standard 75ºC 65ºC The new Low temperature standard 60 75 55 45 Bigger radiators with lower temperature 55ºC 45ºC More radiation and more comfort. High efficiency and low losses. Best use with condensing boilers. Convenient for all kind of renewable energy. Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 12

VARIABLE TEMPERATURE HEATING Weather compensation system. Ts Tr 60 75 Ts Tr Working as low temperature heating for 70% of the winter period. According to the heating curve, the supply water temperature varies with the outdoor temperature, from 35ºC to 75ºC. Good solution for existing installations. Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 13

UNDER FLOOR HEATING Tf=29ºC Ts=45ºC Tr=37ºC 45 60 75 37 Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 14

THERMALY ACTIVATED BUILDINGS - TABs 60 75 30 25 The solar coverage is close to 100% Floors, ceiling, walls and beams are all used to heat the building. Heating pipes are distributed everywhere. Heating water is circulating in the building structure 24/24h. Supply temperature lower than 30ºC is enough to provide a high comfort. Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 15

SYSTEM AND EQUIPMENT The domestic hot water is charged by the solar. The remaining heat is stocked in a big buffer tank for continuous use. Many heating source can be connected to the buffer, like heat pump, solid fuel boiler or even a gas boiler. A smart use of the hot water stratification in the buffer result in more energy saving. Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 16

SYSTEM AND EQUIPMENT The domestic hot water is charged by the solar. The remaining heat is stocked in a big buffer tank for continuous use. The return pass throw the buffer to catch the buffer heat before entering the boiler. Ideal for existing systems. Many heating source can be connected to the buffer. Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 17

COMBI BUFFER Complete system in one preassembled kit with the perfect components, ensure the optimum running of the system Solar pump kit Controller DHW preparation kit Solar coil Circulators for radiators and floor heating Fourth Renewable Energy National Dialogue 18

COLLECTIVE SYSTEM The solar energy and other sources are cached in a central buffer. Each user can chose the mode using the solar energy, for domestic hot water, radiators or floor heating. A heat meter can be added to allow an exact calculation of the water and energy consumption of each dwelling Improved energy efficiency, plus flexibility of use.
