The new IPS combines userfriendliness and fast size changeovers with unique versatility thanks to compatibility with existing moulds New high performance injection systems ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY The IPS preform production platform with injection technology is Sacmi s finely-targeted response to the vast range of investment and technological upgrade needs within the converter world. USER-FRIENDLINESS AND QUICK CHANGEOVERS One of just a handful of providers on the planet capable of leading the way across a range of industries and technologies, Sacmi initially developed the IPS 220; this machine won immediate market acclaim for its user-friendliness, fast size changeovers and high-tech content such as the linear motor on the pick-up unit which features the energy recovery system (K.E.R.S.) AUTOMATION The new Sacmi IPS 400 combines all the winning features of the previous version with innovations such as automated preform unloading in the post-cooling area, thus eliminating conveyors and reducing handling tasks and plant length considerably. Versatility Unique versatility, as the IPS 400 is compatible with most moulds on the market. HIGH PRODUCTIVITY AND IMPROVED QUALITY The IPS 400 combines lock-to-lock times of just 2.1 seconds with specifications that guarantee higher output quality; this is achieved thanks also to an innovative transfer solution between extruder and injector (FIFO circuit in the plasticizing unit). ZERO CONTAMINATION RISKS Positioning the containers in the post-cooling area allows preform unloading to be performed in a controlled environment, thus eliminating any risk of contamination. Zero Defects All the produced preforms are controlled in line using a PVS inspection machine. PVS allows an immediate feedback to the production process, eliminating the risk to produce defective parts. 6

More than half of all plastic flat top beverage caps are produced using this technology, making SACMI the world s leading compression moulding machine producer Performances shorter cycle time and therefore higher productivity. The lower extrusion temperature allows for fast cap cooling. LESS ENERGY CONSUMPTION. Lower extrusion temperatures mean less energy is needed to bring the plastic up to temperature and less energy to cool it. HIGHER CONSISTENCY (very important on bottling lines) due to equal moulding pressure, lower temperature and absence of injection gate. The latest version in the range can save up to 10 million different logos, has an unlimited colour range and minimises product and size changeover times. Digital technology lets manufacturers change both graphics and decoration on every single cap, making product personalisation child s play and opening up new communication and marketing scenarios. SPS Inclinable Label Applicator Labelling has never been more flexible An articulated arm allows modification of the angle between the flat surface supporting the label reel and the tapered surface of a container The SPS high speed non-stop module offers flexibility and user friendliness, thanks to an innovative label management technology, easy access to all components and an optimized layout. This means the PSL self-adhesive labelling station itself does not tilt but remains horizontal. Moreover, label reels are placed at a level suitable for workers of medium height, thus increasing user safety and comfort. 15
