Our sustainability commitment
History and Background At Fairmont, we re committed to making a difference in the communities where our guests and colleagues live, work and play. More than 20 years ago, we pioneered our comprehensive Green Partnership Program, through which we ve worked diligently to minimize the impact our properties have on the planet. In addition to the establishment of Green Teams at each of our hotels, our Green Partnership program led to the creation of environmentally conscious initiatives such as Eco-Meet, Greening our Greens and our Eco-Innovations Signature program. However, sustainability is about more than just the environment. Sustainability involves thinking about the way we live, how we purchase and what we consume. It means evaluating our methods of socialization, of exchange and of education. It requires us to acknowledge that by transforming our societies, we will improve equity as well as our ability to live in balance with our natural environment. Fairmont recognizes and focuses our efforts across all three areas of priority social, economic and environmental. For us, it s about demonstrating accountability and integrity in the way we conduct business, improving the well-being of local communities and ecosystems, addressing the environmental impacts of our operations, and engaging our stakeholders in a meaningful and collaborative manner. Our Sustainability Teams at each of our properties represent our passionate commitment to being a responsible business and to following the principles of sustainability across our operations. In addition to our commitment to measuring and improving sustainability performance in the long term, the Fairmont Sustainability Partnership provides the framework by which Fairmont s hotels and resorts operate around the globe. 1
