Externally Aided s The Externally Aided s (EAP) Division deals with the appraisals, approvals and moniring of Forestry s being implemented in the States with assistance from external donors. These projects are implemented in the States with assistance from external funding agencies viz. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), French Agency (AFD), World Bank (WB), etc. The projects help for promoting afforestation, biodiversity conservation, rehabilitation of degraded forest areas, water and soil conservation measures, farm forestry, agro forestry, community development and institutional capacity development with the aim increase forest and tree cover as well as augment availability of fuel wood and fodder, improve livelihood opportunities and quality of life of the villagers adjoining forests, strengthening Joint Forest (JFM) institutions ensure people s participation, besides encouraging tree growing on private land as well as greening of the urban areas in accordance the objectives envisaged in various projects under implementation. These projects also help in livelihood activities through convergence with other line departments and other govt. schemes with a view augment the income of the people, help in better living conditions and employment generation as well as addressing the sustainability in perpetuity once the funding ceases flow due completion of the project. At present, there are 14 EAPs under implementation. Out of these, thirteen are State Secr Forestry s being implemented in States and one is a Central Secr project titled Capacity for Forest and Training of Personnel being implemented in 11 States. 12 State Secr s and the Central Secr are being funded by JICA and one State Secr is being funded by AFD. The tal outlay of all these projects is Rs.7474 Crores. JICA projects are implemented in the States of West Bengal, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, U.P, Gujarat, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka and Haryana. French Agency (AFD) project has started in Assam. Details of projects under implementation, their components, project cost, project period and project objectives etc. are given in the Annexure-I.
