At Carter Jonas we offer a variety of routes to develop your career within the property industry. These opportunities offer students the ability to learn about our business and develop their knowledge of the industry, which enables robust career choices. WORK EXPERIENCE We offer exciting opportunities to gain hands-on-experience in the Property/ Real Estate environment. Work experience usually lasts from one to four weeks and is aimed at students who are considering a career within the property world, and currently studying towards an RTPI or RICS accredited degree course. INTERNSHIP SCHEME The Internship programme is a paid scheme for one month in July which provides students with the opportunity to work with a team and to experience an overview of other divisions in the office. You will be given a project to complete while you work with us; you will feel rewarded working with us, be part of the team and be able to grow your knowledge of the property business. 12-MONTH PLACEMENT Each year we provide 12 month placement opportunities in our Rural and our Building Surveying teams. During the placement, students are able to build up their APC diary, by experiencing a range of relevant activities, projects and dealing with a diverse range of clients, our placements are an ideal way to establish a network within Carter Jonas and gain in depth exposure to the diverse range of work. GRADUATE SCHEME Through our graduate scheme we will help and support you to achieve RICS, RTPI or NFoPP membership. Our structured training programme is continuously being improved upon to ensure that we keep up to date with an ever-changing industry, its legislation and requirements. You will be provided with the appropriate training and experience to attain the required competency levels. Your professional development will encompass technical, transferable and professional practice skills and you will be regularly assessed to ensure you are submitted for your final assessment only when you are ready and have achieved the full level of competency. Carter Jonas has in place a strong network of support for all studying graduates to achieve RTPI and RICS membership. We ensure that there are suitable mentors in the business to support studies as well as offering regular CPD opportunities and formal APC training to enable graduate networks to develop and grow. Our training days aim to deliver knowledge in a fun and supportive environment. We utilise our wealth of experienced managers to share knowledge and ensure that all graduates are supported by RICS and RTPI trained Assessors. 3 MONTH Supervisor/mentor meeting Objective review of your progress Review competencies Sign off your agreed level of competence 1-2 MONTH Start with Carter Jonas Register/enrol with RICS/RTPI Choose/be assigned supervisor and counsellor Discuss competency selections Plan a programme of meeting and milestone dates APC GRADUATE AWAY DAY AUTUMN Day 1: Introduction for all new recruits to the APC programme with a focus on what is the APC, how we can support you and what is expected from you. Guidance on diary management, the Case Study and a mock interview. Day 2: Opportunity to meet all graduates across the firm, business skills and core competency training, mock interviews and team building. Complete structured training agreement Start recording final assessment templates (start diary, log-book and recording professional development)
