I am focussed on the procurement of indirect goods and services. I thrive in a busy environment with lots of variety and this role definitely delivers that. To give you an idea, I might be meeting with the Plant Management Team to forecast gas requirements for a submarine refit, or chairing a contract review with a supplier of temporary industrial labour to discuss performance and continuous improvement plans or meeting with the company lawyer to talk about setting up a bespoke training course. Since joining procurement, I have already received one promotion and have been really well supported through my learning and development in my role including completion of my CIPs award. I will then be pushing for a further promotion. The good thing about Babcock is that there s every chance I will get to experience a different role in a different part of the business. I lead a team of supply chain experts and operational procurement staff that is enabling growth and revenue opportunities as well as strategic procurement to increase the profitability of our business unit, which is part of Babcock s Support Services Division. I joined Babcock to be a key member of the team of procurement professionals across the group who are delivering change in the business through our supply chain. Babcock attracted me because it is an organisation which has pace, energy and ambition. It is the ideal environment to deliver exceptional results. In just my first few months in Babcock I built a transformation plan and delivery pipeline which secured the investment to grow and develop the team and capability. In the coming months I am excited about developing my growing team into an integral part of our business. Beyond that, the opportunities across the wider group are many and varied and I look forward to exploring these when the time is right! I joined Babcock in 2012 and I like to think I ve achieved a great deal in a relatively short time. One of my earliest tasks was to support a large MRO supply project spanning across the whole Babcock Group. It is now delivering substantial savings and service improvements which has been a positive way to start and has helped me to immerse myself in the organisation. I have since played a key role in running an extensive sourcing project for a new Plant Hire partner. These large projects are exciting because you get to work across multiple businesses. I could be working with the warships team in the morning and our nuclear services team in the afternoon. During these projects I have been supported in my work towards Membership with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. I am learning a lot from working with some highly capable senior members of the team which is a great way to prepare for my next role.
