Stop Food Loss to Save Planet Earth Information from 3

When harvested produce escapes its Food end use Loss! How does our food escape? By perishing before it can reach gainful use! Because markets are too inaccessible! Why are markets inaccessible? Because food is perishable and needs post-harvest care! Because Post-harvest care is not market linked! Food Because Loss occurs such Care when food requires escapes working its intended tools! use: to be eaten! Because such Tools require skills to use! Cold-chain mitigates loss of perishable food by taking it to more consumers Because some stakeholders do not care! by reaching food to shelves securely, safely and in quality! Post-Harvest 4

It is not that we lose only 30% of food production we lose 100% of what we are incapable of handling. Hybridised solutions Energy recovery Reusing Waste Clean options Different strokes Magnets, Sound Peltier, VAM Geothermal 5

All Food must be handled with one end-use in aim for Consumption Redefine productivity to include market access and market reach. Production from farms needs to reach consumption, to achieve gainful-end-use, reduce loss & resource waste The World needs to move from traditional farm-level productivity to a measure of Gainful-Productivity Market connectivity in form of the logistics chain is integral to the agenda of enhancing agricultural productivity Logistics connectivity the prime objective expand reach, open markets 6

Cold-chain is a logistics bridge, that links supply with demand, extends market reach and makes farming sustainable. Cold-chain is inherently about inventory in motion, buying time to deliver more over longer distances. Cold-chain empowers producers and has a multiplier effect on farmers incomes and needed for socio-economic growth. Cold-chain safeguards value, dampens demand-supply fluctuations; inherently the back-bone for agricultures future. Cold-chain allows human-kind to continue to progress in a more logical & responsible manner. 7

Collaborate to pool resources on FLW Move from food in banks to food on shelves Common Glossary; harmonise concept Science for delivery; focus on gainfulend-use Lost in translation need to harmonise the understanding Keep a delivery bias not mere storage as primary aim Count Shelf life only when food reaches shelves Counter Food Loss to meet SDGs, increase Productivity Price and demand is NOT the problem poor Application of Knowledge is! Our capacity to feed our growing numbers is at risk. Climate change, degradation of resources demands we be careful with what we harvest. Greater global collaboration a must - for global sustenance.

Think tank to Govt on the subject of cold-chain and agribusiness. Engage with its members to translate industry needs into policy recommendation. Manned by technocrats (industry leaders) and functions through member stakeholder consultation. Provides an enabling environment and fosters private sector development in cold-chain sector. Assist in developing and promoting future ready, energy efficient technologies and its adaption. Capacity building and training activities to reduce the gap in skilled human resources. Awareness programs on best, indigenised for specific requirements and conditions. Revisit & guide policies, approve new technologies, efficiencies when developed/understood. Research and Monitor impact of policies and recommend any changes, if needed.
