Online retail is booming, and logistics are booming along with it. From smart start-up companies to over-the-counter retail traders with an online shop to large Internet-only players, online retailers now have to be competitive on more than price. Delivery speed is also playing an increasingly significant role in customer satisfaction. E-COMMERCE TURNOVER in Europe Source: ecommercenews.eu In a growing business, retailers should regularly check their internal logistics for weaknesses and optimise accordingly. Incoming goods must be documented quickly and then taken to the warehouse. Depending on the range of items and the demand, order picking can be carried out based on the personto-goods system or partially automated based on the goods-to-person system. In shipping, too, the packing process should not be unnecessarily interrupted, and rapid loading of trucks should also be ensured. 2
Your solution provider: from receiving to shipping We in the division of Logistics + Industry develop and manufacture products to meet numerous intralogistics requirements in the mail-order segment. Do your intralogistics need to be adapted to new factors or do they require fundamental optimisation? We would be happy to visit you on site and discuss how we can make your processes more efficient or take the pressure off your employees. Our order-picking trolleys, transport trolleys, roll cages and mobile workplaces are used from receiving through to shipping. Our dynamic material handling concept is new to the portfolio. Here, the rapid provision of empty or stocked trolleys is achieved by means of an automated guided vehicle (AGV). In addition to this, automatic carousel storage and lift systems are also available for the storage and order picking of small and medium-sized items. Dynamic material handling does not require a complete renovation. The system can be retrofitted step by step. Today, Wanzl employs more than 4,900 people at 13 production sites worldwide. The Wanzl Group's decades of international experience, carefully considered selection of materials, modern computer-controlled production processes and continuous quality commitment ensure optimum processing, reliable functionality and durable products suitable for each particular application. Receiving goods Whether it is planned orders or unplanned returns, the goods have to be inspected upon receipt and then promptly booked. A mobile work station directly at the unloading site is available to avoid unnecessary walking. Goods often have to be unpacked before they are transported further. Our mobile box containers are always close by and offer a large load capacity to move boxes and films for disposal. The goods should then be immediately available in the warehouse. Rapid further transport into the order picking warehouse also keeps the amount of space required in the receiving area as low as possible. Our wide range of large and small transport trolleys and pallet rollers is available to support you with this task. The order picking warehouse The person-to-goods system Two systems are predominantly used in the field of order picking: the person-to-goods system or the goods-to-person system. A combination is of course also possible, depending on the range of items and the demand. The person-to-goods system This static order picking system involves a manual warehouse in which there is direct access to all items. It is also suitable for bulk items, as the size of the storage space on the shelves can be varied. A further advantage is that seasonal order peaks can be covered with ease. The order picking can easily be increased by employing additional people with comparatively low investment costs. In many warehouses, the pickers transport the orders using special order picking trolleys. With an optimised route, they can process several orders at the same time. We offer you a wide selection of order picking trolleys with numerous accessories. Our KT series also has a modular design. You can therefore tailor your trolley individually to your storage situation and your range of items. KT3 Order picking trolley The classic model. The basic model is available in 12 sizes and can be individually equipped with accessories. KT3-X Order picking trolley The tailored solution for your intralogistics. The dimensions of the trolley can be configured in small grid steps. Like the KT3, the trolley has a modular design and can be customised. 6
The order picking warehouse KT3 drive order picking trolley Our KT3 order picking trolley is also available with an electric drive. It is perfect for heavy loads and reduces the physical strain placed on your employees. Entertainment sorting trolley Our trolleys for the picking of books, CDs and many other small and medium-sized published items. The adjustable separators mean the compartment size is variable. KT-T Order picking trolley The low-sitting design of the KT3. It is suitable for picking four boxes of 400 x 600 mm. The height of the levels can be varied. Additional levels and further accessories are available on request. MultiPick trolley Ideal for the e-food sector. Up to 6 orders can be picked at a time. For plastic boxes of standard size 400 x 600 mm. Power supply for order picking trolleys The KT series order picking trolleys are also available with batteries. The lithium ion battery is hung in the side grate and provides the mobile power supply for your pick-by-light accessories or peripheral devices such as printers, screens or scanners. 7
The order picking warehouse Wanzl dynamic material handling: The goods-to-person system An automated warehouse is used for this dynamic order picking system. It transports the entire loading unit for the removal of ordered goods at the ergonomic operating opening. The picker removes the quantity needed and requests the next item. The automated systems have a fixed performance limit and are configured on an individual basis in accordance with the customer s performance requirements. If the volume ordered permanently increases, the system can be expanded to include additional modules even while the operation of the system continues. The advantage of automated provision lies in the higher picking performance than in the case of a person-to-goods system, as there is no time-consuming walking. Pickers also value the increased ergonomics at their picking station. Twister V vertical carousel storage Our range of products includes the vertical carousel storage system Twister V for high storage rooms. It works on the basis of the paternoster principle, in which the requested loading unit is transported to the unloading point on mobile carrying supports along an optimised route. The V series is particularly suitable for the highly compact storage and provision of a large number of small items. Ascenso vertical lift system The vertical lift system Ascenso is also a solution for the storage and picking of medium-sized items. Two high sets of shelves arranged opposite one another are served by a single lift. The items are automatically loaded and unloaded on trays with the height and route optimised based on the drawer principle. If an item is requested, the lift system moves to the desired level, removes the entire tray and transports it to the unloading point like a lift. 8
The order picking warehouse Twister H horizontal carousel storage We recommend our horizontal carousel storage Twister H for large-scale, low rooms for the optimal use of space and the best possible picking performance. Here, the goods are stored in horizontal carousel storage racks and rotate to the removal point on request. Autonomous further transport The orders that have been picked up now have to be moved to the shipping area as soon as possible. In most cases, an employee pushes the fully loaded order picking trolley to the shipping area. In order to ensure that employees will be able to take on more highgrade tasks in the future, an AGV (automated guided vehicle) can be used as a tractor unit for transport. The self-driving MiRHook200 transport robot It pulls the order picking tray to the predetermined position using a gripper arm, safely and efficiently manoeuvring around people and obstacles. Existing facilities do not need to be converted. The transport robot can be operated and programmed with spectacular ease using a tablet or a smartphone. 9
The shipping area Whether an individual packaging space or a packaging route is needed, sufficient packaging material should always be available. In the best case scenario, this task is given to individual employees so the packer is not unnecessarily interrupted from the packing process. With our box transport trolleys, you can transport large and small shipping cartons to their packing spaces quickly and ensure short lead times in shipping. With the Click&Collect model, the goods ordered are transported from the central warehouse to the selected branch, where they are provided to the customer for pickup. The rapid loading and unloading of the trucks is mostly carried out using roll cages that are pushed into the loading area fully loaded. This type of transport is ideal for furniture shops, supermarkets, electronics shops and clothing companies. Our range includes numerous roll cages in various designs that can be closed on every side, able to be nested when empty or able to be coupled in a tugger train depending on requirements. Cardboard packaging trolley For the provision of unfolded boxes in a variety of different sizes. Roll locks ensure a fixed position during loading and unloading. KT-VP1 10
The shipping area Fully enclosed roll cages The RC/S series roll cages are characterised by a closed construction and can be secured against theft using a padlock, as required. RC/S14 RC/S9 Nestable roll cages The RC/N series roll cages can be folded in when empty and pushed together to save space. This saves valuable storage space. RC/N3 TYPE 1 Custom-made items Some logistics concepts require an individual product design tailored to the specific task. Here, too, we can support you with advice and assistance. We can develop and manufacture a tailored solution that will integrate perfectly into your intralogistics based on your specifications. Contact us! 11
