Green Procurement Guideline 3 rd edition Page 1 of 3 "Fundamental Environmental Policy" Principle - Hamamatsu Photonics, as a company that contributes to society through photonics technology, aims to realize a sustainable society toward a future with balance among all forms of life, whilst considering the importance to harmonize environment with society and economy. Policy - 1. Providing Environmentally Friendly Products Manage chemical substances contained in products, as well as develop and provide products that contribute to environmental improvement and reduce the burden throughout the product life cycle. 2. Actions to Address Environmental Activities Encourage all our employees to take environmentally friendly actions, achieving our environmental goals based on the identification of risks and opportunities that can influence our business activities, products and services. 3. Protection of the Environment, Prevention of Pollution Address energy saving, global warming prevention, waste reduction, sustainable resource use, chemical management, biodiversity protection, conserving water and preventing pollution. 4. Compliance of Environmental Regulations Comply with domestic and international legal requirements, individual agreements and other requirements to which we subscribe voluntary. 5. Continual Improvement of Environmental Management System Make efforts to improve our environmental performance by the continual improvement of our environmental management system, through the evaluation of the environmental impact at regular intervals. 6. Promoting Environmental Communication Promote environmental consciousness and friendly communication with stakeholders and our employees by widely disclosing environmental information both internally and externally. Purpose The Green Procurement Guideline indicates the basic matter that (hereinafter called as HPK) preferentially procure parts, materials, and packaging that have less environmental loads. It aims to promote environment conscious manufacturing expressed in our Fundamental Environmental Policy through green procurement. Suppliers are expected to promote following articles. 2. Scope This guideline is applied to below all items delivered from supplier (hereinafter called as delivered items) that are parts, materials (including accessories that enter the marketplace along with products), subsidiary materials (i.e. solder, glue, calking, cleaner, etc), and packaging, which are consisting of HPK s products including OEM* one. Moreover, the use in process for delivered items is also applied. *OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturing 3. Requirements for Suppliers HPK preferentially do business with suppliers who are promoting followings; (1) Establishing environmental management system such as, a. ISO14001 or other environmental management system. b. Chemical substances management system for used or included in delivered items. (2) Environmental protection activities such as, a. Environmental regulatory compliance. b. Actions to reduce environmental loads like reducing greenhouse gas emission and waste, chemical substance management, etc. c. Survey of chemical substances for delivered items. d. Carrying out environmental educations for employees. 4. Requirements for delivered items In addition to the quality, reliability, characteristics, function, price, delivery time, service, and technological development, HPK preferentially adopt delivered items meeting with followings; (1) Chemical substance a. Neither including "Banned substances", "Level 1 of Restricted substances" listed in "Management Standard for Chemical Substances", nor using in the process. b. Establishing quality assurance system required by "Guidelines for the management of chemical substances in products" by Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium (JAMP). (2) Regulatory compliance a. Complying with environmental regulations such as reproduction resources and energy. b. Little outbreak of harmful chemical substance at the disposal, air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution. c. Little outbreak of noise, vibration, and bad smell. (3) Saving energy and resource, recycling a. Planning to save resources and energy through downsizing or use of reproduction resources and parts. b. Designing for recycle. (4) Packaging a. Reducing to environmental loads such as saving resources, recycling, and reducing to contain the chemical substances. (5) Disclosing information a. Disclosing environmental information about contained chemical substances.
