OBJECTIVES The main objectives of this Workshop were: To aware the Students towards Cyber crime. To know about the IT-Act-2000 and its various sections for law and enforcement Authorities in Investigating Cyber Crime Cases. How we enable the effective prevention, investigation and prosecution of cybercrime and enhancement of law enforcement capabilities through appropriate legislative intervention. How we put forward recommendations to the Government and Industry for Cyber security policies and implementations. How we engage with governments, regulators, industry associations and think tanks on policy matters through Public Advocacy. How we assist Government Agencies, Educational Institutions, Corporate including the Society in capacity building through education along with prevention, detection, advisory and solutions of cyber crimes & attacks. How to provide legal and/or social economic help and assistance to the needy people.

Backdrop of the Theme The theme of the workshop was Cyber Crime and its Prevention. The massive increase in technological developments in personal computing, smart phone and wireless devices in recent years has created significant challenges in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Cyber crime investigation is different in many ways from the conventional crimes and presents serious enforcement challenges. There is no physical contact between the victim and the perpetrator of the crime and, quite often, they are situated in different countries, thousands of miles apart. This practically rules out availability of eyewitness account. Availability of presentable documentary evidence rapidly diminishes over time, which calls for a quick incidence response. Cyber laws are still in the evolving stage. Most of the agencies associated with criminal justice administration face knowledge and capacity constraints. Majority of offences require investigations abroad, which involve compliance of time taking procedural formalities. This important workshop has explored the expansion of technology-enabled crimes; enable effective prevention, investigation and prosecution of cybercrime and enhancement of law enforcement capabilities through appropriate legislative intervention, Assist Government Agencies, Educational Institutions, Corporate including the Society in capacity building through education along with prevention, detection, advisory and solutions of cyber crimes & attacks and how collaboration can inform technological, legal and policy responses internationally.
