How It Works Prospecting Petmobile distributors source new customers in a variety of ways, including door-to-door canvassing to meet pet owners and to give them free Petmobile or Vetdiet pet food samples. Offering one week of free food to your new clients will nearly double your prospecting success. On top of that, our telemarketing service provider will obtain a number of appointments for you with potential clients; this service is offered free of charge for the first 48 hours. Business Development A moderate distribution rate of 4 samples per hour corresponds to 24 potential customers per day or 120 per week. On average, an experienced distributor will retain 50 to 70% of solicited customers; a good distributor retains 40% and a beginner 25%. The beginner should, therefore, bring in about 30 new customers per week (25% of 120) or six per day. Conducting ongoing prospecting activities for 30 weeks should yield an average of 900 regular customers with a purchase frequency of 4 to 6 weeks. Work Schedule Most beginner distributors dedicate six hours per day to their prospecting activities, usually from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Income The average purchase for a pet is between $30 and $35 every five weeks, which represents approximately $5,400 in sales per week (900 clients 5 weeks x $30). Weekly sales of $5,400 yield a gross average income of $2,160 per week. With expenses calculated at $428.24, net pre-tax income totals $1,731.16 per week or $90,020 per year. These calculations are based on $30 orders from 36 customers per day. It is quite feasible to reach a greater number of customers whose orders exceed the $30 average.
