LORETO COLLEGE Coorparoo POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Systems Engineer (SysEng) Level 3 Location: Technology Services and Support (TSS) Team Position status: Full-time 2 Years contract Reports to/supported by: Head of ICT Strategy, Services and Operations Director of Finance and Business Operations (staffing & HR) Direct Reports: Effective Date: March 2018 Prepared by: John Salceda Approved by: Kim Wickham No other positions report to this position Position purpose/summary: The TSS team provides planning, operation and support of the College's messaging, collaboration, curriculum, business information system, classroom technologies, file and print services, Voice over IP telephony, wireless, local area networks, campus wide area network and video services. The technologies include onsite, hybrid and cloud based solutions. The team also works with external suppliers and researches to transition to, implement and migrate IT as a Service technologies. The role requires someone who is highly skilled and experience in network and systems and can show initiative, disciplined, thorough, self-motivated, and highly trustworthy and works well under pressure. Provide high level of troubleshooting skill and patience. This role is part of the team that provides user, device, and equipment support for the College and participate in the team s rostering schedule that may involve after hours and weekend work. Tasks includes building and maintenance of Windows Server Virtual Host and Virtual Guests using Windows 2012-2016. Build and modify (when directed by Head of ICT) Azure and Office 365 configuration setup. Ensure that LCC's core network services, MSSQL databases and systems infrastructure are running optimally, stable and secure. Backup are done regularly and successfully. Data and systems restore are done on schedule with results documented and any fault and failure that prevented successful recovery are documented and rectified. Manage network infrastructure including but not limited to switches, routers, access points, firewall, email and URL security solution. Act as 3rd level escalation from other team members that require advance technical assistance. On daily basis, log and work on Servicedesk tickets and provide general IT support to users and technologies across different systems on premises or cloud, that are being used by LCC or as directed by the Head of ICT.
Duties and responsibilities: Provide intermediate technical support and maintenance on the following servers and technologies Windows Active Directory and all systems and networking services both on-premises and cloud (Azure or other cloud services), Build, configure, deploy and maintain Windows Server 2012 and above as a server and virtualisation host running Hyper-V on MS cluster with shared windows storage. Manage, rebuild and migrate Windows Server Networking Services including, Skype, SCVVM, SCCM, Certificate Server, MS SQL Databases, DNS and DHCP among others. Build, configure and manage advance Exchange online including migration (on premise to cloud), archiving, data retention configuration and management. Advanced configuration and maintenance of switches (VLAN, QOS, routing and other relevant services), routers, Access Points and security solutions (firewall and internet filtering Sophos XG). Manage and maintain an effective backup and regular recovery exercises with documented results using enterprise grade DR software like Veeam and Commvault. Configure and Provide user and technology support for the college phone system (must have high level of Skype troubleshooting skills and advanced level of telephony). Configure, deploy and manage enterprise grade SAN and server technology. Other technical support responsibilities includes, 1. Provide Audio/Visual support to staff and students 2. Maintain Network Storage accessibility and security 3. Annual user set up (laptops, ID cards etc.) 4. Participate in the TSS rostering system which can include occasional afterhours and weekend work. 5. Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of ICT, Deputy Principal- Curriculum and Technology or Business Manager
Relationships: This position is a vital part of the overall administration of the College and provides essential services and support to the community in general. More specifically, it is part of the Technology Services & Support Team which provides a proactive, service-focussed support of all ICT matters (hardware and software) across the campus. This Team is led by the Head of ICT Strategy, Services and Operation appointed by the Principal. The Team works closely with and provides back-up assistance to related aspects of the Library and Information Services. For this position to work effectively, close collaboration with and back-up support for other members of the Team is essential. Competencies: Able to setup, modify and maintain Microsoft networking servers services (on premise and cloud) including Active Directory, Windows Clustering, Windows Storage, SCVVM, Azure, Group Policy Management, DNS, Certificate Authority, SCCM and other relevant services. Able to demonstrate knowledge in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure and high proficiency in popular office 365 apps like OneDrive, SharePoint, OneNote, Skype, Streams and others. Able to configure and support Microsoft networking servers and services like MSSQL, Certificate Authority Service, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V Virtualisation, Windows Clustering, Windows Storage and SCCM and SCVVM. Able to implement and maintain efficient backup and recovery procedure with enterprise grade technologies (hardware and software) like Veeam and Commvault Able to demonstrate a good understanding of networking principles (including vlan, subnetting, DMZ, routing protocol and principle, Firewall Sophos XG, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies). We are interested in a candidate who has a deeper knowledge or experience in the inner workings of some technologies like Advanced Traffic Management, vlan tagging and configuration recovery from backup and must be comfortable working from the switch command line. Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Able to structure written communications such as reports or documentation to meet the needs and understanding of the intended audience, expressing information and key points clearly and concisely. Experience with working in BAU and Managed Service will be highly regarded. Experience with Active Directory (ADFS) and Exchange migrations to both on premises and cloud.
