Introducing Maximo for 1 Nuclear Power This guide takes you through the steps to install Nuclear on a pre-configured Maximo 6.2 system. NOTE The pre-configured Maximo 6.2 system must have IBM Maximo Instrument Calibration Manager installed before you install Nuclear. Installation Qualifications This chapter describes what you must know before installing the application. A system administrator should install Nuclear, for doing so requires system administrator rights and privileges. To perform the installation, you should be familiar with the following: PC installation tasks such as creating folders, editing files, and running scripts Utilities such as Enterprise Manager RDBMS system administration privileges Nuclear Overview You use Nuclear to meet Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements, including surveillances and commitment tracking. Nuclear provides the necessary tools to meet NRC requirements and additionally, to implement the Standard Nuclear Performance Model (SNPM) as defined by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) as they exist as of June 2004. This product will be improved as required to support changes to SNPM. Nuclear has many enhancements incorporated into the base Maximo product. These enhancements let you incorporate nuclear-related features such as the following into your daily use of Maximo: create surveillances track design components validate the suitability of a vendor track commitments Nuclear has three new applications developed specifically for nuclear asset maintenance needs. Nuclear Overview been cloned, or copied, in order to add nuclear-specific options to these applications. They are available to only users of Nuclear. (The base applications remain in the product. You can give access to the nuclear-specific clone or base application to different users in your organization depending on their needs.) Installing Nuclear 2 Installation Checklist This chapter describes how to install and configure Nuclear and provides important information that you must know before installing Nuclear. The following checklist provides an overview of the installation process. Detailed instructions begin on the next page. CAUTION You should update Nuclear in a test environment before updating your production environment. [ ] 1 Determine current software version. [ ] 2 Ensure that Calibration Manager is installed. [ ] 3 Stop the Maximo application server(s)/service(s). [ ] 4 Back up your entire <Maximo> folder. [ ] 5 Back up your database. [ ] 6 Install Nuclear. [ ] 7 Install Maximo for Nuclear Keys. Installation Procedures Installation Procedures Determine Current Software Version The procedures described below explain how to install Nuclear. Calibration Manager Your Maximo system must include IBM Maximo 6.2 or later before you install Nuclear. Stop the Maximo Application Server Before you install Nuclear, you must have Instrument Calibration Manager installed. The Nuclear install will not proceed if Calibration Manager is not installed. For information about installing Calibration Manager, see the IBM Maximo Instrument Calibration Manager Installation Guide. Create Backups A best practice is that you have all users exit Maximo, stop all Maximo Application Servers and services and exit all other programs before beginning the installation process. Install Nuclear Before you install Nuclear, you should back up both your entire <Maximo> folder and your database. NOTE If you have multiple Maximo folders or directories you will need to run the installation once for each Maximo folder or directory. To install Nuclear, complete the following steps: 1 Insert the Nuclear CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2 Browse the CD-ROM to choose installs/nuclear and run nuclear.exe. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions. 4 Open a DOS window and change directory to <Maximo>/tools/maximo. 5 Run updatedb.bat to update your database with the changes required by Nuclear. 2-2 IBM Maximo for Nuclear Power: Installation Guide

Installation Procedures Installing Maximo Keys Build EAR Files Load the Maximo for Nuclear Power Key CD and run setup.exe to install the required license files. Rebuild your maximo.ear and maximohelp.ear files. It is important that your maximo.properties file is up to date before building the EAR files. For more information about building EAR files refer to your IBM Maximo Installation Guide. Restart the Application Server and Deploy EAR Files You must restart the Maximo application server and redeploy your EAR files in order to make the Nuclear changes available to users.
