Introduction To FIC & It s s Products & Services Member of the D&L Group of Companies. A family-owned firm, D&L started operations in 1963. It brought to the Plastics Industry custom designed, formulated and manufactured engineered polymers, colors & additive masterbatches for a wide range of applications. FIC was established in 1988 to ensure manufacturing and marketing synergy to meet customers products and order size requirements. FIC is an affiliate of Chemrez Technology, a public listed company.
A wide range of products offered under the following trade names: Dry Colorants Pigment Preparations Fully dispersed pigment concentrates for tinting, non-woven fiber quality, films and moulding, pvc color compounding applications. White Masterbatch Grades of up to 80% TiO2 loadings. From the large volume utility grades to the high performance grades, we satisfy the market requirements while providing the greatest value Black Masterbatch Grades with up to 40% carbon black loadings in a wide range of resins are available for low-cost to high performance products.
Color Masterbatch Apart from a wide range of standard colors available, a vast majority of jobs are typically engineered and formulated to specific applications and customer needs. Through the use of the most advance color computer matching hardware and software, we have the ability to guarantee critical color matches to even the most stringent of specifications. Special Effects Masterbatch Pearlescents, metallics, flourescents, phosphorescents and marbles. These are just a few special effect masterbatches available than can be tailor-made to meet the various demands and imagination of the customers. s.
A range of additive concentrates that when added to conventional plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, enhances their performance. These e include anti- block, anti-oxidant, anti-slip, anti-split, anti-static, cling agents, slip agents, dessicant concentrates, foaming agents, nucleating agents, optical brightener, barriers, processing aids, purging compounds. etc. Mineral filled polymer improver/modifier intended for LDPE, LLDPE, and HDPE film and bottle applications. Film and Bottle converters wanting to produce clean and opaque products at the highest allowable throughput can realize a dramatic increase in productivity with its use. Specialty mineral concentrates for indoor and outdoor furniture, and appliance parts, etc.
Proprietary mixture of additives, when added to conventional plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, makes these type of plastics oxo-biodegradable.

Biomate Oxo-Biodegradable Additive Masterbatch Technology Background Conventional plastics like PE and PP will subsist in the environment for decades unless they are made biodegradable by the inclusion of a catalytic additive. Biomate is an additive masterbatch developed in collaboration with P-life Japan. P-life produces a specially formulated proprietary mixture of degradants in powder form. FIC encapsulates the P-life powder into a carrier resin, thus enabling plastic processors to achieve very good dispersion and distribution of the oxo- biodegradable additive when mixed with PE and PP raw polymers during the plastic manufacturing process.
Degradation Steps of Biomate dosed PE and PP Step 1 : Oxidative Degradation The oxidative reaction leads to chain scission of the PE and PP backbones and the production of low molecular mass oxidation ion products like carboxylic acids, etc. The Biomate dosed PE and PP become embrittled and are ready to be bio-assimilated by living organisms. Step 2 : Biodegradation (or Mineralization) The low molecular mass oxidation products are then going to be bio-assimilated gradually in soil. When the plastic materials tend to be digested by living organisms, they are transformed in carbon dioxide, water, humus and trace elements.
PE & PP with Biomate (Oxo-Biodegrable Plastics) Sun Light Heat and Oxygen (The Natural Environment) Step 1 Oxidation Degradation (Production of low molecular mass oxidation products) Natural Soil and Composting Environment Step 2 Bio-Degradation (Bio-assimilation of low molecular mass oxidation products)
Examples Of Actual Oxidative Degradation
Tests Conducted on P-Life P and Biomate P-Life ASTM D6954-04; Standard guide for exposing and testing plastic that degrade in the environment by a combination of oxidation and biodegradation. FDA 21CFR177.1520; FDA migration ISO 14855; Biodegradability test Biomate RoHs (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) Testing for heavy metal (Cd/Pb/Hg/Cr/Br) content BFAD working procedure on conformance to migratable substances for articles intended for food packaging Environmental Technology Verification by DOST ITDI (ETV08.013)
End-use PE and/or PP Application for Biomate Carrier bags or shopper-bags which consumers use to take away their purchases from the shop. Refuse sacks, which consumers buy in rolls at the shop, and use of disposal of their ordinary household waste. Aprons, for the protection of garments, in the home, hospitals, restaurants, workshops etc. Bags to contain dog faeces collected in parks, gardens, etc. Bin liners Disposable gloves Plastic sheeting for a variety of application in agriculture and horticulture. Plastic film for wrapping newspapers and magazines. Bread bags Frozen food bags Wrappers for cigarette packets Shrink-wrap and pallet-wrap Bubble-wrap Rigid products such as bottles and cups
