CAREER PREPARATION INTERVIEW Contest Description: Individual contestants submit a resume, story, and participate in a job interview. Contest Superintendent: Elizabeth Gambel Award: Two 4 H Educational Trips to 1 st place and 1 st alternate winners Sponsor: Louisiana 4 H Executive Committee, The Agribusiness Council, and LSU Kiwanis Club Age Requirement: Must have passed his/her 13 th birthday and not passed his/her 20 th birthday on January 1, 2012. Rules: 1. Each parish may send two (2) contestants (1 girl and 1 girl, or 1 boy and 1 boy, or 1 girl and 1 boy). The contestants will compete individually. 2. The situation for the contestant s interview with the judges will be a job interview. The contestant selects the job for which they want to be interviewed and put name of job on resume. The job selected should represent a present day situation, not a job projected in the future. Contestants will be asked questions dealing with workplace ethics and other knowledge as indicated on the interview scorecard during the interview process. 3. Each contestant should wear an outfit appropriate for a job interview. For males: slacks, buttondown shirt and tie. For females: skirt and blouse, dress, or appropriate pants suit. 4. Each contestant submits a resume giving his or her qualifications for the job for which he or she is applying. Resume MUST be typed (12 pt. font size in either Times New Roman or Arial style) or contestant will receive a score of 0 on the scorecard. 5. Each contestant will be interviewed by the judges for a maximum of 15 minutes. 6. Finalist will be called back for a second interview. Making the finals does not guarantee a blue ribbon grouping. 7. 2 copies (one for each judge) of the Personal Development Story (story shall be no more than 6 pages double spaced), resume, and job application shall be compiled into two separate bound portfolios (3 hold punched accepted) shall be sent to the State 4 H Office prior to the contest. Do not place the individual pages in plastic sleeves. It is not necessary to include the blank score sheets in the portfolio. All pages of the portfolio shall be typed (12 pt. font in either Times New Roman or Arial style). Judges will refer to portfolios during the interviews.
