GLOBAL GOALS AND Volunteerism UN Secretary General Synthesis Report (2014) Volunteerism is a cross-cutting means of implementation which can help to expand and mobilize constituencies and to engage people in national planning and implementation for SDGs and ground the new agenda at a national and local level and encourage new areas of interaction between governments and people for concrete and scalable actions. http://www.un.org/en/development/desa/publications/synthesis-report.html 4

Universal SDGs: How we can leverage policy change and action for people and planet Planetary Boundaries (Rockstrom et al 2009 in Nature journal) 5

Developing a single, sustainable development agenda is critical.... Without environmental sustainability, we cannot end poverty; the poor are too deeply affected by natural disasters and too dependent on deteriorating oceans, forests and soils. Right now, development, sustainable development and climate change are often seen as separate. Human wellbeing and ecosystem services (United Nations, 2013). United Nations. (2013).
